Fire Rivera fanboys must be on vacation

My frustration with Ron is that the answer may very well be on the roster, but it takes an injury to find out. Guys that should be getting playing time don't because Ron can't put the best guy on the field on a consistent basis. Our goal should be to win a Super Bowl every year, and I'm not sure Ron is capable of putting the right players and coaches in place on a weekly basis. I would have less issues keeping Ron if we could get someone to take that part of decision making away from him. Team evaluation and player management is one of the most important parts of being an NFL coach and in that respect I believe he is far below average, and our long term success has suffered because of it.

Am I saying he should be fired tomorrow? No. But even at 5-2, you can't look at his game day roster management and tell me he's been amazing.

toomers, i don't think you see both sides.  are you one of the ones who is scared things will get worse if we decided to move on?   if that's the case there is no common ground.  i'm not scared of getting worse.  i want us playing to our potential and our team's strengths.   can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs.   if he doesn't get us there his tenure will have been a failure.    a complete failure.   that's how it works if the sb is the goal.  if your goal is to have a good team to enjoy that isn't terrible, we have different goals for the team.  that's all.   i can live with that and accept it. i just won't ever look at it that way.

I’ve always seen both sides. One of the only on here that does. I’ve never defended him blindly and acknowledge his faults. In this very thread. Also while stating that it’s getting ridiculous the lengths that people are going to, just to have something to try to make themselves be right. We are having this discussion at 5-2 and coming off one of the teams most impressive wins in years. You keep “harping” about both sides, but I don’t care if he stays or goes. Find someone Tepper really believes in, go for it. You, however, only see one option. Because, as you admitted, you are unable to be rational about it.

LOL, we're 5-2 with new coordinators for all three phases. Hurney has done a serviceable job and honestly I think it's his job to lose at this point. Almost all of his draft picks are seeing consistent playing time. Rivera isn't flashy, and his conservative style can be frustrating, but I see the 2015 swagger coming back and we have an even better team overall this time, in my opinion.

yeah, i thought you were one of those.  you are.  fear.  fear is the mind killer.

Ok....I was trying to be nice.

Most people aren’t stupid enough to admit they are completely irrational in one post and look down on everyone that doesn’t agree with their opinions in the next.

The only problem is you want to roll some barely legible BS out there and expect sunshine and rainbows to shower all over your “fantasy”. Back here in reality, some people use facts and knowledge.

Cam had arguably the best rookie season of any QB, ever. Of course you start him. McCaffrey was behind JStew most of his rookie campaign. And for every Bradberry/slew of others, I can give you a Moton, Norwell, Moore, Norman...

Rookies do tend to make more mistakes, but they also make more plays when they're more talented. You have to take your lumps with young guys so they can learn to avoid/limit the mental mistakes.

I do understand the idea of limiting Moore due to Ian Thomas starting at TE. But he was barely being used at all, when he should have been getting at least 5 -10 touches a game.

After the double fumbles he needed to sit some. Now he redeemed himself and has earned more touches which he is getting. It isn't hard to figure out and makes sense. He is getting what he earned both good and bad.

You serious, Clark?  Ron dictates the direction of this team on offense and defense.  That's why you see the outdated, mundane, control-the-clock offense week in and week out. There's a reason Ron only hires guys who will never challenge him and who are happy to do as they're told.  The ONLY common denominator in this team's largely poor offensive performance over the last 8 years is Ron himself.  So, tell me,  what part don't YOU seem to get?

Rivera brought in folks who understand his philosophy and share similar views. But Norv runs the offense that is clear. If you can't see the difference between Chud and Shula and now Shula and Norv, we can't have a discussion because you may see what is happening but have little clue what you just saw.  This outdated offense just put up 36 on the number 1 defense and is going to get better. Just sit back and watch a few more games and you might see what apparently eludes you. This is a very dynamic offense with lots of potential that can go toe to toe with any defense even with the injuries we have had at key positions on the line and with Olsen for example. We are just hitting our stride. And when December hits and we play cold weather games at Cleveland and at home you will appreciate our running game as well

he tells norv what he wants.  he's the head coach.  his philosophy dominates the team.  like at work, how you may disagree with your boss, or their boss, or the team leader, but you have to do it their way even if you know there's a better way.   and if you make too much of a stink you get let go, whether you were correct or not.   that's how.  even jimmy johnson said on tv norv is a lot of 5 yd stuff, but the team seems to play better when we turn it loose.   and norv worked for jimmy.   that's why ron hired him.

Wrong on most counts. First off Ron worked for Norv in San Diego as his defensive coordinator which is how they know each other and have a shared philosophy. Second Norv was brought here to fix Newton given many felt he regressed since 2015 and there were feelings Cam had progressed as much as he could under Shula. Third, Turner was brought in to fix the passing game and better utilize our weapons. Rivera and Hurney for their part gave Norv and Cam the weapons this offense needed to thrive. Norv is the better way and Ron is letting him run the show from what I see. Lastly ball control by making long scoring drives and keeping the opponent off the field is the philosophy of most successful offensive coaches like in New Orleans for example. That is why Norv is here and Ron made a great choice in picking him which had to be tough after the debacle in Minnesota. I also promise you Norv wouldn't have taken the job if he didn't have control of the offense after the embarrassment with Zimmer.

All I know is Ron has consistently gotten us to the playoffs.  He's gotten us to the Super Bowl once.  And before you say it's all because of Cam...how many Super Bowls has Belichick gone to without Brady?  What was Belichick's record in Cleveland?  Cleveland fan's wanted him fired too...how's that worked out for them?

And btw I've complained about Ron before too, but I don't think he's bad enough to warrant firing.

For what it's worth, I have heard interviews with a handful of offensive players where Ron's involvement with the offense was discussed and they all said he mostly stays out of it and let's them do their thing but spends more time giving his input on the defensive strategy because that's what he knows best. This wasn't this year, it was during the Shula tenure but I can't imagine Ron meddling with Turner's offense and not Shula.

He didn’t have any of his usual scared fugups last game so of course people aren’t going to whine. What kind of logic is being employed in this thread?  Do I still want him gone? Of course. Is now the appropriate time to whine about it? Of course not.

From your response I see emotion but little logic. Otherwise firing our winningest coach in the middle of a likely playoff run makes no sense at all. After the season is the time for these threads not at 5-2 after 2 huge wins.

Man reading this thread you get a 100 different rocket scientist with 100 different  opinions of why they think this or that.

i have always kept my praise of Rivera to the fact that good, bad or ugly he wins games. I don’t know about y’all but I like coaches who consistently win games.

Rivers is the 5th winningest coach in the NFL over the last 5 1/2 years(1/2 is from this season).

I don’t care if they are ugly or not, just win baby!

as long as he keeps winning I want Rivera here.
