Maybe it's just me, but Bradberry still appears sketchy as hell

I remember when we thought that Bradberry was going to be a better version of J-No at his best. He seemed like a cerebral player that would be well above average once his physical skills, experience and instincts synced up with his mentality. If someone still thinks that, why?

Honestly, when I see the ball going Bradberry's way, I hold my breath a little bit like I do with every kicker who has attempted a field goal since Kasay left. I mean, I see Bradberry getting burned burned, and then I see him getting burned and flat out getting lucky as the ball bounces off his back, head or some other body part while the ball arrives with Bradberry's back to the ball. I mean, he must be a helluva eye reader. He hardly ever makes a play on the ball. He just doesn't seem to have the instincts, speed or quickness to deny most receivers the ball, much less make a play on a contested catch. He usually makes the tackle though...after watching his assignment make the catch. I am just beginning to think that his ceiling is limited. 

Perhaps his second half of the season will be better than his first and he'll turn a corner, but I'm not really impressed.

He's definitely hot and cold. He looked great against Julio an AJ Green earlier this year, but yeah, he's prone to getting beat deep and he never has a single clue where the ball is once it's in the air. He may have the worst ball skills I've ever seen at the NFL level and they seem to be getting progressively worse. But, at his best he's a very solid cover guy. Jackson may pass him in career INTs by the end of his rookie season. Bradberry may never hit double digits for his entire career.

A corner is gonna give up plays.  He’s not perfect but he’s good enough. 

I’d be more concerned if Jackson wasn’t playing as well as he has but since he is, it’s fine.  Corners gonna give up plays in 2018.  Bradberry does a good enough job minimizing that.

My issue with James is he has arguably the worst ball skills of any db in the league. He is a fine cover corner but as we know turnovers can be the difference between a win and a loss. He doesn't have fifth year option and I really hope we don't break the bank to sign a guy who can't catch a cold.

That's the nice thing. I think without blazing speed and without game breaking turnover ability he should be relatively affordable for a starting CB. I don't think he's the type of player the rest if the league is going to be begging to back up there Brinks truck to steal.

All things considered, I'd agree. He's a solid coverage guy but he doesn't have great deep speed and his ball skills are honestly terrible. The thing is though that "average" isn't necessary a bad thing. If you can lock him up long-term at average starting CB money I think you do it. I think we can. I just don't think he has the splash factor that makes teams overpay. He's really solid while almost entirely lacking in splash factor. In terms of bang for the buck that should work in our favor.

he's a decent number 2 corner

people are freaking out lately because they're comparing him to Jackson, who looks like future all pro. 

he can be not as good as jackson and still be a solid starter!

If I’m a opposing NFL QB and I need  7-8 yards for a first down   I’m throwing it to whomever is being covered by #24.

  He does a great job tackling after giving up the catch & he limits the yac, but gives up way too many keep the drive alive plays   

For an example Look at the last 2 games it seems other teams aren’t throwing at Jackson.  It looks like they picking on #24 regularly. Hes average which isn’t a bad thing. But he’s not a #1 corner

He can't locate the ball to save his life, his cover skills are slightly above avg

I think he is a very solid corner. In 2018 where the games are geared for the offense, it’s hard to play defense but I think he is doing well. He is a solid blue collar type of player.
