Oline has allowed the least sacks since 2011

2017 first six games, 22 sacks allowed..  2018 first six games, 10 sacks allowed. This is the least amount of sacks allowed since 2011. I don't understand how this patchwork Oline has accomplished this feat. Is it the coaching? Right mix of players that work well together? Norv have something to do with it?

What do you think is the magic mojo that they have found to make this work?

All of the above .

imagine if we had D Will and Moton at LT... not sure we’d even have 5 sacks allowed. Props to Ryan who everyone thought was done, Turner who people thought Norwell should’ve been kept over him and Van Roten whose been a beast, and Clark for stepping in as a couch FA after the season started. And Moton is the real deal franchise player for us

Well when you have a QB on the level of Brees and Brady and a actual OC things tend to happen that way. None the less the new league rules may have helped Cam more than any other QB this year. DEs have actually been flagged for late hits on Cam and it's shown with his confidence in the pocket.

It really is everything.  Funny thing is, outside of Moton and Williams at respective T spots, this is the best possible line we could've trotted out at years beginning.  The crazy thing is that an off the shelf LT supplanted Kalil.

  • We have shorter throws, better designed plays
  • Moton has been a revelation.  The man is a force and the guy who should be locked up for his career here.
  • Van Roten has played absolutely fire.
  • Clark has been entirely fine.  I won't say a stud or anything but he's doing as good as he was some years back when he was one of THE guys on a league best line.
  • Turner is again, quietly, a man amongst boys
  • Kalil looks a bit old at times but is still kicking.
  • Cam has somehow gotten even better pocket presence wise

This is all with Williams out.  I actually think we have a future set with Moton-GVR-Larsen-Turner-Williams.

We suddenly have room to build out the depth with them in mind as our future.

Play design and blocking schemes. When someone who truly understands an offense is running it you get results.

Chud knew how to run the offense. Norv gave the book to Chud.

Ron deserves the credit for finally getting Norv and Scott to coach Cam and run this offense.

Usually our division foes know what's coming. Now that Norv is getting his groove back with Cam and all these weapons, I think they will become less and less prepared for what's coming.

Cam stepping up into the pocket is the difference.  So much easier for the oline.  Our dumpster fire oline situation forced this to happen and it may turn out to be the best thing for the Panthers since drafting Cam Newton.  We are going to rip the aints to shreds.

You nailed it.  Also, give Hurney credit for re-signing Van Roten to a 2 year deal early in the offseason.

Norv.  We aren't running 7 step drops every play with deep drag routes across the board.  Cam isn't having to hold on to the ball as long.  Obvious.
