09/03/1995 Carolina Panthers vs Atlanta Falcons in the Georgia Dome.

Still have my game day collector's edition program and tickets to that game. 1st regular season game evah!

It was one of the most exciting days of my life to see the culmination of a dream for the Carolinas and Jerry Richardson come true.

Remember Mark Carrier, Bob Christian, Chat Cota, John Kasay, Lamar Lathon, Brett Maxie, Tim McKyer, Tyrone Poole, Frank Reich?? Just a few of our players back in the day....hard to believe it's been so long with Kasay....almost brings a tear to my eyes cause there's been a heck of a lot of change.

Panther fans not to bring up bad memories for you but you guys remember that game in 2002 in Lambeau against us where you guys missed the tying field goal to send it to overtime and we won 17-14. I was at that game and from the angle I was sitting it looked like it was good so I didnt cheer but everyone was going nuts and I saw the replay and it was no good. Panther fans all around were total class acts though that day. In our history between the two teams we have had alot of good games. You guys will get your super bowl soon. :)

1996. vs. San Francisco. I think it was in September. I can't remember the final score, but that was the game Beurlein started in place of Collins and that amazing defense dominated the Super Bowl champs.

I was already a fan, but that experience really solidified it for me. that game is probably one of the most important wins in franchise history. That win really built a lot of confidence. They went on the conference championship.

BOA (then Ericsson Stadium) is a great sports venue, and I've been to a few.

Still my favorite game I've ever attended.

Those were some good times. Expectations were low. Expansion teams were supposed to suck for years. Opposing fans would get real pissed that they lost to an "expansion team". When I bought PSLs I didn't expect to see a lot of wins. Expectations almost make the game day experience worse.

I've been a Panthers fan since the beginning. I made my family watch the first game regular season game against Atlanta while we were on vacation....

but the first game I ever was able to attend was last year's playoff game against the Arizona Cardinals. :mad5:

What a terrible first game. Me and brother stayed till the end though--it felt awesome to be at BoA and see the Panthers in person, even though the game was @$@!$#@% awful. What a disappointment...

    • If Cam is done, he just needs to retire.  Even on that episode of the podcast, he said he would never play again, but he's not going to "retire."  OK.   I think it's stupid.  Cam Newton is the best player in Panthers history.  He made us relevant.  He was polarizing, but you can't deny that Cam changed the course for the Panthers.  He needs to have a sit down with Tepper, clear the air, and Cam needs to sign his retirement.  Then the Panthers make it one for the ages and make it a city wide celebration of everything Cam has done on and off the field.
    • The retirement thing is just a convenient excuse from Tepper. I'm sure if the team was trying to bring him on officially he would do it in a heartbeat and the league wouldn't bat an eye at it. He's not getting any other calls and we know there's a direct line of communication. You telling me no other team has put up a photo of an active player who left? I have a hard time believing the league would flag a MVP display, literal team history, as tampering. Moving on from JR is clearly bull too when we're parading Luke and Smitty around. It's Cam. Tepper knows that if Cam is brought on in any capacity, as long as he looks athletic to the average fan there's going to pressure to put him in when we're struggling at QB. They've decided he's not worth that but I think is a huge mistake. The organization stands to lose more burning this bridge than he does.
    • I've been here through it all my friend. So when I say I've seen how this turns out folks really should listen. But they won't. So I continue to be entertained by fair weather fans that talk down to me as if I don't know squat. That's fine. Their in for some painful reality checks.
