Chancellor Lee Adams will be at the game tomorrow

The Carolina Panthers will have a couple of very special guests on the field during the pregame Sunday — Saundra and Chancellor Lee Adams.

“What a nice gesture by the team!” Saundra Adams said Friday. “We are both so excited.”

For the past 19 years, the Panthers have kept far away from this story. They fired Carruth, their former first-round draft pick, in December 1999 after he fled North Carolina in the trunk of a Toyota Camry following the death of Cherica Adams. And that’s been it. The Panthers really haven’t had anything to do with the Adamses in a positive or negative way.

But now Saundra and Chancellor Lee will not only be on the field during pregame, but they will also have lower-level seats for the Baltimore-Carolina contest.

To me, this represents a long overdue step by the Panthers and I applaud them for it. Kudos to Riley Fields, the team’s director of community relations, for making it happen in conjunction with a dedicated Carolina fan named Jason Underwood.

Like Scott Fowler said, this was LONG overdue. I'm very happy that Chancellor Lee Adams and Saundra Adams will be at the game tomorrow!

Normally I think once people have paid their debt to society for their crime, we're too harsh on them. A felony conviction is pretty much a life ruiner. Can't vote, can't legally own firearms, virtually completely unemployable by any company that does even the most basic of background checks. There really isn't much of an opportunity to actually turn your life around.

But sorry, in this case... fug that guy. What he did is completely unforgiveable IMO and his life should be ruined.

    • Hope Koch recovers (he’s stated numerous times he doesn’t like to be called “koochie”) soon. But he does not instill confidence in the crease. I don’t have any confidence in any of our goalies, healthy or not. Andersen when available gives us the best chance to win but he’s never available.    Team has to explore trade options soon.
    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
