Efe Obada is the 3rd best edge rusher in the NFL at average QB pressure per pass rush snap

Draft two DE's or a DE and DT next year.....just don't fug up the picks. Efe and two quality rookie lineman would be a great start on getting our defense fixed.

That's fine , but I want that AFTER addressing offensive needs. Sorry, but the defense has already had their time. If they need to suffer some in order for the offense to improve, then so be it. Rivera is supposed to be a god damn defensive genius. He shouldn't need superstars all over the defense. If he does, then why is he still here?

You said it in your post. This team has been really offensively focused in the draft and if that continues Rivera does NOT need to be the coach.

Sacks are a big deal, but honestly, they are rare. Think of how many Julius Peppers has and then think of how many games he has played, how many times he has lined up.

Those QB pressures, though, don't catch the casual viewer very much and it's easy to overlook the impact a guy like Obada can have on the overall game. Heck, the fear that Peppers has inspired just by getting close to a QB has won games. There's just no precise stat telling how many incomplete passes pressure makes, how many times it causes a check down, or a QB to tuck the ball and scramble for just a yard or two.

I sure hope Obada keeps up the pressure and can actually snag some sacks as the year comes through. Pep can't last forever and if Obada can just rise to the level of Mario Addison, or even Wes Horton, we'll have a good long-term guy on our hands. I like the fact that he's still young and new to the sport. The ceiling looks high right now for him.

Pressures/hits bring also higher potential for turnovers as well.

Obada gets shitted on by like 3 people on this board but that is cool because the coaches are seeing his progress even without the fancy sack numbers.
