Smh. You are microanalyzing the cap based off of transactions.

its 4.9 million of dead cap over the entire cap. Not for a single position. You are thinking from a very minimalistic perspective. That’s why we can’t agree with you.

You are the one minimalizing just looked at the cost of cutting him versus replacing him. Anyway you look at it cutting him costs us 15 million dollars for nothing. We still have to have a left tackle. The bigger picture includes replacing him which I pointed out not you. So again you seem the one minimizing not me

Sure man, believe what you want.

That was so good up except for the “kill clause” in Kalil’s contract. There never was one. That was all Gman.

I'm almost positive there was some verbiage in that contract that would have been an easier cut after this season...I may have been totally off on that, but I do remember something.

I would probably use the $30 yearly spotrac cost to look into old contracts, but it's just not worth that much to me.

And to be 100% honest here about the cap and adding a marquee player...

Could we?  Sure.  Should we?  No.

Only thing that would make me mortgage the future even just a little bit would be a very good pass rusher with a decent contract (unicorn rare), or still on his rookie deal with a couple years left on it.

This is Cam's 8th season, not his 14th.

There is no “old” contract. The one up there is it. This is all that matters....(directly from Sportrac)

  • $13M fully guaranteed at signing (signing bonus + 2017 salary)
  • 2018 Option Bonus: $10M (must be exercised by 3/19/2018)
If not exercised, the $10M converts to salary, and $11M 2018 salary fully guarantees
  • $7M 2019 salary fully guarantees on the 3rd league day of 2019

Read the second clause. The cost was always the same. No matter what. And it was being paid. No matter what. Hurney did the only thing he could do. Spread it out.

I’ve posted this about 50 times. That is concrete proof from the original contract. There was never an out. To be fair, Sportrac missed it completely until it was exercised.

I am with you there. I remember saying at the time. We at least can cut him after 2 years if he still sux. Then ol Hurndog extended him, and we now have what we have.

I believe that ol Hurdog extended him, or picked up his option, to put more cash in the coffers, as FA was in his plans. In retrospect. Probably not one of his finest moves.

lol this cap mess is DG

There is no cap 'mess' as has been pointed out in this thread over and over again, we'll have cap thanks to DG next year. The point is we have no cap space atm because DG actually left millions over during the season to make plays if they were available. We have squat atm b/c Hurney tops out every fugin year and leaves no room for in season plays.

we have cap next year because of all the expiring contracts.

It’s the same line you’ve been taking so no wonder you like it. At least he is being honest about it lol

Of course. Let’s ignore that I just posted specific details confirming everything I stated about Kalil’s contract. Why don’t you address that. You hoping people forget it. Where was the “out”.? Why is a restructure a pay cut? How is anything you said today about this true? I know you’re not big on facts, but they are right there. Don’t know what’s left for anyone to dispute? Where are any facts to back up your ridiculous statements. And won’t let go.

Let’s be honest your specific details are apparently greatly up to interpretation. Already had 2 other people bring up this same things I pointed out.

What is up to interpretation? It’s cut and dry. Where is this “kill clause”,”out”, or choice that Hurney made that was wrong. You haven’t pointed anything out about it. You haven’t addressed it.

What specifically is wrong? Tell us if it’s that easy. And that goes for anyone. If there is an argument against it, I’ll listen. But you haven’t shown the manhood to even address your own comments.

    • they have the best defense they've had in a long time...probably the best in the reid/mahommes era.  but i think they are probably the most beatable they've been in a while as well. record doesn't exactly bear that out, but they just don't look as strong on offense as they usually do. lots of reasons for that, like trying to build chemistry with newer receivers, but right now they just aren't as frightening as they typically are. i mean they'll probably win tomorrow, but i don't see them as the strongest team in the AFC right now.
    • He will likely remain unsigned the remainder of this season(barring someone being in a pure QB panic AND making poor decisions) largely due to the cost. I do think he will get multiple offers to be a backup QB and perhaps a couple to potentially start this offseason.  I will continue to beat the same horse over and over.....he should go to a successful team with an established starter. If I were him, go to somewhere like SF, LAR, etc. Somewhere with a successful QB coach and brilliant offensive mind and ALSO a set situation at QB. Ride the pine and adjust for a year or two. Chill and be around better culture. I would suggest the same for Bryce but he will be limited to wherever we can trade him.
    • I dont think the clock has started yet on canales.  Once he gets his guy then the pressure starts.  WFNZ/mike kaye said  yesterday that he thinks there are 4 options here regardless of bryces status, Geno, Fields, Wilson maybe Jones.
