Trades? Who's available on the Panthers? Who do you want from other teams? What would it cost?

One week to go before the deadline... Whatcha got?

On the Panthers' Block:
Funchess - "
Don't call him FunFun." He's in a contract year and is too inconsistent both in getting open and making catches. We need to get our younger guys on the field more, and Smith has proven he can do Funchess like things and has more speed. I kinda pegged him as a trade target for the Jets, but they signed Rishard Matthews. I'd assume Arizona might be interested, among a few other teams (MIA, JAX, among others.) We could get a 2nd or 3rd rounder for him in the right scenario, but might be worth more in getting a DE or other help in the pass rush.

CAP - Anderson can't even see the field and CAP can't even see a jersey. Might only be worth a later round pick to most clubs needing RB depth now. His contract is up this year too, so might as well try to get something for him rather than nothing. (PIT, NYJ)

Vernon Butler  - Could be worth it as a depth guy/run stopper to the right team. (AZ, PIT)

David Mayo - Another contract year player. He's a solid MLB and could give some team a lot of value. I'd hate to lose him, but he's a good tradeable player with our rookie LBs already seeing some PT.

Other than those guys, I don't see others on our own roster that I'm comfortable moving right now.

Targets on other teams:
Benson Mayowa - DE, AZ - Decent pass rusher, in final year of his deal, on a bad team. Cheaper option than some out there.
Aaron Lynch - DE, CHI - see above. Kinda buried on their depth now thanks to the Mack trade.
Tre Flowers - DE, NE - a little pricier, but might be interesting... Not sure they'd trade him though.
Dante Fowler - DE, JAX - Very interested in him. I'd send them Funch and CAP for him, lol.

Clayton Geathers - S, IND -- Adrian Amos - S, CHI - Sean Davis - S, PIT - All younger safeties and potential Adams/Reid replacements for next season depending on how those guys end up. Will need new contracts, most likely.

Random surprise trade - Jesse James - TE, PIT - I like his name, and I like his play. Pitt has Vance McDonald ahead of James and could actually use CAP or Butler (maybe even Mayo.)

For all the above guys, I think some of those teams need some of the guys I listed as available for us. I'd give up a mid round pick for Flowers, Fowler, and any of the safeties straight up. Mayowa and Lynch probably a conditional 6th or 7th.

I am assuming this is all speculation? I've heard zero interest on the players, and 6 of 8 are not on the trade block....

Yes all speculation...

Just because you haven't heard they are on the block don't mean they aren't. Almost all are in contract years.

Let’s break this all the way down....

teams to target: Raiders, Giants, 49ers, Bills, Arz, Colts

on the fringe: MIA, Broncos,Jets,Titans, Jags

our needs this current season: Edge rusher, S, Dt, Rt

boils down to what we are trying to give up, I’d prefer our 1st is off limits, 2nd rounder only to a proven commodity. The biggest trade would be Patrick Peterson, while great in name not so sure a great fit and with issues at pash rush this light be a moot move this season. I’d target Karl Joseph for a late pick and Shane Ray from the Broncos. Adams while good, is a liability in the downfield passing game, Ray former 1st rounder buried on the depth chart. A poster also mention to me Lorenzo From the bills, 35 yd old vet would be like a 7th rounder to gain. Would love the bills to go on a fire sale and us grab Hyde for a 3rd. Just my 2 cents, hopefully something is done to bolster the team before the deadline

Damon "Snacks" Harrison from the Giants.

Send them Vernon Butler and a 4th. Run defense problems are instantly solved. Short gets a double team eater next to him so he is freed up to make plays and it keeps Luke clean. We get rid of Butler and reunite him with Gettleman who can say the team got younger and a player he really likes. Short and Snacks are starters. Love and Poe are backups.

Honestly, we should consider trading CJ if we aren't going to use him.

At best I think we get a 6th and the team that needs a RB the most is the Eagles and I don't really want to help out a team that we could be potentially fighting for a wild card berth for so little return. Plus if, god forbid, anything happens to CMC for even a couple games we would really, really need him to hold it down for a few games.

Also, I would like to keep Funchess this year in the off chance he plays out of his mind the rest of this season, and nets the Panthers a compensatory pick this off-season.

Doesnt even really need to play out of his mind. The WR market is insane and we are probably looking at a 4th right now. would be really hard to see him get up to 3rd round level as that is like $14M+/year

In order for us to even think about competing against some of the best this year we’ll need more fire power on offense.

Give me Damaryius Thomas. As I said in another thread he’d provide insurance in case we don’t/can’t bring Funchess back as he’s under contract for 2019. I feel like he’s Norv’s ideal number 1 type of WR.

Dante Fowler would be a nice get but I feel like the Jags are in win mode.

I also think and I can’t belive I’m about to say this but we kind of need Vernon Butler with the lack of production we’re getting from Poe.

If we want to really compete we have areas such as WR, CB, DE to address. Getting a second corner and moving Jackson to nickel and Munnerlyn to the bench would be ideal and a huge improvement.

You don’t go half way in either, if you want to compete you go and address these needs legitimately or you try to unload some of these contract year players like Funchess. The last thing you want is to be like the Charlotte Hornets and never know if you’re rebuilding or competing while continuously sucking each year.
