For Rivera, playing offense is NEVER an opportunity to score and to win the game. 

Its only an opportunity for mistakes and/or disaster resulting in losing the game and leaving his precious (porous) defense hanging out to dry.

Cam Newton is the only QB that Rivera has ever had as a HC.  And he doesn't trust him to this day.

i wouldnt go as far to say he doesnt trust him. hes just too conservative of a coach and when he was "riverboat" we went 15-1..

I swear we have this conversation every year. It's not going to happen boys. Rivera would rather get fired than go fast paced no huddle offense. It's all about babying his defense so they can "rest". Man, one can only wonder the historic records and superbowls Cam would have had if he had an offensive minded coach from the start.

It would be such a relief to actually discuss football based on facts, tactics and strategies instead of rehashing the same old erroneous huddle maxims with opinion, conjecture and criticisms without understanding basic concepts underlying words such as situational or conditional or evolving or whatever.

From the stand point of this being a team game that also involves not wanting your defense to be on the field for long periods of time, he’s right. We all know no huddle offense for the entire game doesn’t work. Look at what Chip Kelly did to the Eagles.

Nobody said “the entire game”, just more of it, earlier in the game, especially when the offense is struggling and you need to create some energy and rhythm. They shouldn’t have waited until the fourth quarter to pick up the tempo.

We lost that 10 years ago. The huddle brass has encouraged the reaction thread to the point no good football discussions survive. Fact is most people on here don't have the attention span to read a full article. It's why Igo posts videos and tweets so he can get the most clicks out of Dory Panther fans.
