Rivera won't commit to more no huddles

Reminds me of a game years ago, I think against the Bears in one of Cams early seasons where we allowed the Bears to dink and dunk down the field and win against a very passive and soft zone scheme, playing way off WRs while they kept hitting quick slants repeatedly.  He said he would have rather lost “systematically” or some poo.  Just sounded like loser mentality all the way, kind of like sitting on a one score lead.

And that QB was Brady Quinn no less.

Ah yeah I remember that game, I think it might’ve actually been Norman they picked on the entire way down the field too or I could be wrong

It was 2012.  Start around 25:11 for the Bears final drive if you can stomach it.  Watch the repeated slants to Brandon Marshall with Norman playing off allowing that drive to get down the field so quickly.  6 years later that’s still the defensive philosophy.

No huddle doesn't necessarily mean up tempo.

Jeez.

Just let Cam get up to the line quick, Do his Peyton Manning impression, snap the ball with under 10 seconds after reading the D, and profit like we did in 2015.

No Huddle does not necessarily mean Hurry Up. If you get a Defensive look you like to exploit, going No Huddle does not allow that defense to rotate anyone in. It can tire a Defense out if you can be efficient. And it can get Cam into a rhythm. All valid reasons to use it.

Sure it has its drawbacks if you screw it up. But a well run No Huddle can be a weapon.

For real though, the big ticket item there is that the D can't sub anyone out.

We have NUMEROUS guys on our team that are multifaceted in the positions that they can play.

Olsen can play TE and WR

CMC can play RB and WR

Samuel can play WR and RB.

Get those guys on the field, plus funch and Anderson, run power I first play, go no huddle, D can't sub, Get to the line in I form quick again, Call audible, spread CMC out wide, leaving anderson in the backfield, swing Samuel in motion, D now has to account for the sweep, the run with Anderson, and the PA.

I mean am I wrong? Would this type of wrinkle not result in some decent plays?

This Drives. Me. Crazy. You won't be getting 3 and outs with the no huddle because you don't start it until you get that initial first down with some momentum, and hopefully an advantageous personnel match up. I really hope Rivera knows that you don't just start a drive in the no-huddle....

and as in prior years, no huddle doesn't mean up tempo.  We have installed this in prior years.  Cam can still snap the ball with 2 seconds left on the play clock.
