REPORT: Patrick Peterson might be traded to New Orleans

New Orleans is right there in the discussion...it needs to cost them a first.  Don’t see him winning them the NFC championship but it’s close.

If I am the Saints it is worth it.  Brees getting a send off Super Bowl is looking better and better for them.

That Ravens victory for them was extremely impressive.  Missed kick or not.

They are a top 3 team in the NFC. A trade like this absolutely could get them to the NFC Championship and beyond. Lattimore paired with Peterson would be a hard duo to get past.

If NO is able to grab him, its just proof the salary cap is an illusion.

It’s very easy to manipulate the cap. They’d need 4.5 mil in room to sign him because his 11 mil cap is about 6.5 now because of per game checks. You can convert salaries to bonuses and clear that up easy. Loomis does this all the time.

Hence the salary cap is an illusion, if you can so easily ignore it.

Only way this happens is if Cardinals ownership pushes it...

Wilks would lose all credibility with the team and probably spell his doom if the team trades Peterson, especially in light of Wilks denying it as strong as possible.

In fact, if the GM and/or ownership would allow this after Wilks has come out against this so strongly, would be pretty much an admission they will be cutting bait after 1 season with Wilks

People are always saying the Saints have no cap etc etc. it’s really not that hard to understand how they do it. Panthers could do the exact same thing, some GMs are more aggressive, some are conservative. Time and a place for both I feel. I do think NO going after Peterson is the right move. 11per for an elite corner is not outrageous. Saints have a two year window to win another ring with Drew. We will probably be irrelevant for a while once he hangs it up, so why not go for it?

Marcus Peters went for a 2018 4th and 2019 2nd. I could see Peterson possibly going for something pretty similar.

Saints have also squandered many years with a HOF QB in Brees by having to fill roster spots with UDFA's and/or 3rd rate players b/c of wasted money on big FA busts and bad draft picks.  Their draft last year was exceptional and brought them back into contention, but signing every FA out there has failed more than it's worked, and especially for the Saints

The point was they are trying to win. I didn't say anything about them having success.

It’s not about GM is about ownership, Jerry Richardson was the cheapest owner in the league that’s why he never wielded his influenced over the cap

This is actually a reasonable take. Looks like @saints4lifeagain has a friend
