James Bradberry

How is it a great play when a player gives up a huge chunk of yards because he got burned bad? Just because the player escapes the F play with a D play does not make it an A play.

Badberry played like poo and got whooped on by the Eagles. He made a few blind desperation plays to bail him out of being horrible. Badberry has proven to be a desperation CB who does not have the edge to be the best in the league.

He is a serviceable CB who should be no better than a #2 starting CB on a defense. He should never have been starting his first two years in the NFL. Now, he is a capable starter, but he is a liability against the top caliber WRs in the NFL.

You just have to cross your fingers and hope he can bail himself out with a desperation play when the ball is thrown in his direction. I have more faith in Jackson as a starting CB.

What would rather see happen?  He give up chunk yards, or he give up a potential game winning touchdown to the other team?

I would rather see him not get burned deep and keep the pass from even being an option, or at least get his hand on the ball.

I will take a D play over an F play if the player is not good enough to do any better than satisfactory. Just don't call that a great play.

people are going to poo on bradberry, but good lord alshon was making circus catches and wentz was making perfect throws.

3 or 4 times today I said "nothing you can do there."

That’s how I saw it. Only really bad thing I saw was getting burned on the PI play, but he had the presence of mind to commit the foul and save the TD.

I call it a great play because 10 times out of 10, the defeated corner will continue to run and try to tackle the receiver once he caught it.  If Bradberry did that, it would have been a touchdown.  To have that mindset in such a critical point in the game, to get the penalty, that is grit!  That's savvy!  That is thinking outside the box, in my opinion.

There is a lot of greatness in the NFL by that standard.

To be honest Bradberry’s career so far has been as expected/on par more or less. He was drafted in the second round and for the performances he’s given us so far I can’t say I’m dissatisfied especially since our secondary has been the Achilles of this defense for god knows how long and now our front four is nowhere to be seen....

IMO bradberry is still pretty overrated. Donte should have been covering alshon or they should have shaded some help over to bradberry because it wasn't just that he was getting beat, it was that so often he would be in coverage when they needed a first down on third and long and he seemed to give it up. I'd like to see DJ as the number one, even for a little bit, cause bradberry just doesn't have the athleticism to be a number 1, and his technique doesn't exactly make up for it either.

To me all he needs to do to become elite is get out of his head, know he can cover and evolve by starting to play the ball. Bat it down. Don't let guys catch on you. He's reliable. He doesn't let guys get too many YACs after they catch it. They're not throwing at Donte  because he'll either bat the ball outta there or try and pick it off.

If your playing saftey back then you should be pressing with your CBs to disrupt the timing and keep everything in front. Can't give clean release to WR on a consistent basis and let them settle in with timing.

It sounds like you're describing Cover 2. I think the alignment is a little different in Cover 3/Cover 4.
