The Whole let's trade Kemba crowd

I swear you don't watch the games. Kemba fought through double teams all fuging night and when he would dish to a wide open shooter they fuging bricked almost every time. Marvin and Nic were fuging 2-12 from three and we're paying them a combined 30 million+ this season and playing them 30+ minutes a night. No team has a chance to win when that happens. But like usual we have a chance at the end to win the game and Nic Batum fuging blows it with a terrible inbound pass. Nic has single handedly lost us 2 of our 5 games this season. I am honestly at the point where I think this team would be better off if we just buy him out of his contract. I don't think we would be able to get anyone to trade for him and he is losing us games when he is on the court.

I honestly don't even know how Kemba scores more than 20 a game with how much defensive focus is put on him. Notice how almost every time one other guy on the team scores more than 20 we win. Swap Batum out with a guy like Khris Middleton and we are a top 4 team in the east.

Tanking doesn't help us with Batum's contract on the books. I never thought I would hate another player more than I hated Boris Diaw, but man was I wrong. How the fug do you only score 13 points in 38 damn minutes fug me.

That's the point, dude. I watch all the games, and that's the issue. Kemba is good, but not great. If we trade him, we immediately turn into one of the worst teams in the NBA, and it's not even close. We will win barely 25 games without Kemba. And that's what I want, a Top 4 pick, and that's what we need. We need young players that can become stars. Instead of trying to depend on players like Marvin Williams to be consistent, or Nic Batum to do something other than be trash. Simple as that. Like it or not, that's the only way we get back to being great within the next few years.

Yes and by the time we will finally be getting Batum's ass out of Charlotte that "young star" is going to be looking for a max contract extension. So pretty much we will suck for the next 4 years minimum for the small chance we luck out in the draft.

We should be doing what ever we have to do to get another consistent 20ppg player to pair with Kemba for the foreseeable future. Once Batum is off the books you either blow it up if we suck ass or use his cap space to bring in a decent player if the team is competing for the playoffs.

Our fan base isn't "die hard" enough to support a team that tanks. We at least have to put a product on the floor to sell tickets to fans. Say what you want about Kemba but he sells tickets. If we were to tank you may as well call yourself a fan of the new Seattle Supersonics because this team won't last in Charlotte.

The problem has always been scouting. I think now that we have a GM that has a better draft history than Cho can make better decisions. That being said I am on the trade Kemba wagon just due to the fact that he is the ONLY asset worth trading. Think back to when we traded Gerald Wallace. That Bobcat team and our team now aren't that different. We got a 1st round pick for him to add to the lottery pick that we had already (because we sucked). Our pick we take Kemba and with the Blazers pick we take Tobais Harris which we later trade for Bismack :eyeroll:.  We need more talent for the sake of the team more than we need to be loyal to Kemba.  Kemba is a great person and player but we wont do any better with him. Kemba is way better than Gerald was so imagine what we could get for him.

That's incorrect, if we Draft a Nasir Little, Zion, Barrett type next year, he'll warrant a contract extension in 2023-24. And since he'll be a restricted FA we can match any teams offer, for instance, Monk would have a qualifying offer from us in year 5 of his contract. Batum's contract ends after 2021. Marvin, MKG, and Biyombo are all off the books after next year, dude. No reason to resign Kemba at this point. Tank now, get a Top 4 pick, and build through the Draft with Top 5 draft picks, Monk, Bridges, and Willy. Stop with the ticket selling poo, we'll be trash with Kemba, and we'll be trash without him.

Trying to get an average ass player to go with Kemba with this trash roster is like kicking the can down the street it doesn't make any sense. And MJ is NOT selling, or moving this team to another place. That would be moronic.

This roster looks like a fringe to playoff team so those top dudes would be out of the equation and don’t see a tanking situation with first year coach.

I think the Hornets are in a decent situation, just need a few years to get bad contracts off the books.

Something kinda hilarious I know folks will love...a guy like Luke Maye will be definitely in the range of guys we could draft next year.  LOL.

Kemba may go down as the greatest Hornet ever but unfortunately even if we did try to trade him the best we would hope to do is perhaps a late lottery pick. The odds of this late lottery pick becoming even a decent player are slim so how are you supposed to rebuild around that instead of keeping your best player?

They need to tank to get players through the Draft. You guys clearly do not know how NBA basketball works. No free agent is going to come here, unless theirs a young piece that's worth a damn. And we do not have any young pieces. We have to tank now.

I would tell Breggeo we are going to tank, and we'll be patient with him, once we get some good pieces in.

It's not the late lottery pick your trading him for, it's the tank that goes with it that nets the team a top 4 pick. However, I dont think they will tank. I dont think they know how to do it and MJ seems content on being a fringe 8th seed playoff type of team.

That said, trading Kemba for picks and shedding salary the next few years while sucking and building back up young talent is the only way a small market team wins in today's NBA.

Kemba probably is going to go down as the greatest Hornet ever. Unfortunately, a late lottery pick would have to suffice, I would prefer a 2020 pick if that was the case, but alas, it's whatever. And the main rational behind trading Kemba would be that this team is so garbage without him (debatable, but I don't know if it actually is), that we will have a Top 4 pick just off of our team being garbage. Think about it, how far would this team go with Nic Batum and Marvin Williams as our consistent 1, 2, or 3 options? Not very far.

Not totally buying that...just got to draft better

monk and bridges are good young players...prior to that we got frank and Cody

a good GM can fill in pieces thru trades...cho sucked

and yes a good free agent here and there can help

You could say the 76ers had to Draft better, but that looks like they just kept getting Top 5 picks and FINALLY starting hitting on them.

they do have some really good young players

i gave us very little chance at toronto the other night...interested to see how we do tonight at philly...embrid is a force

Yeah, we'll get torched fa sho. We're just not a good team, until our fan base realizes keeping Kemba is a disaster waiting to happen.

I think Kemba is the kind of player teams who tank hope to actually get, even though tanking in no way guarantees you'll ever get one. I can't believe Borrego signed on to suck for 3 or 4 years only to hopefully remain employed long enough to actually see .500 again. I agree this team isn't a title contender but the reality is that about 26 other teams aren't either so that's not a solid reason to tank. We've got lots of young developable talent, a star in Kemba, and a new coach who appears not to be stuck in the stone ages so why not see what they can achieve?  Yeah we've got some bad contracts but who doesn't?  This team might miss the playoffs or they might be a top 5-6 seed.  At least they are finally fun to watch right?
