i honestly believe Rivera is very close to being an above average head coach, he just needs to adjust his philosophy to match the NFL in 2018 and let go of the '85 bears mentality.

While I agree in principle, I have no faith whatsoever in this happening.

Rivera was questioning his philosophy early on, but then talked to John Madden who told him to stick with what he believed in. He credits a lot of his success to that conversation.

So yeah, if you're waiting for Rivera to change his approach, I wouldn't hold my breath.

For months now we have heard over and over (from the Rivera haters) how Rivera won't ever get us a Lombardi and that Rivera should be canned.

Suppose Tepper agrees with you and fires Rivera after the season.   Who is the Sean McVay you want to hire?  What head coach/OC/DC do you want to see?

I am not a fan of replacing Rivera and believe bringing in a new system will be cost us at minimum one more season.

I don't follow college football at all, and I don't pay enough attention to other NFL teams to suggest a replacement. However, I detest Rivera's default let's-play-it-safe attitude. If it's 4th-and-inches on the opponent's 42, fuging go for it. You have the personnel to do it. Personnel is ideally supposed to open up the playbook, but Rivera doesn't seem to want to let it. What's the alternative? +/- 20 yards of field position. The way the defense is playing this year, the better bet seems to be gaining 6 inches instead of withholding an additional 20 yards.

I also don't agree that letting Rivera go will automatically cost a season. I suppose you're assuming that Tepper only pulls the trigger if we have a losing season. What is we have a winning season with playoffs, and Tepper decides to let Rivera go anyway because he doesn't like Rivera's conservative nature either?

Hadn't heard about that conversation. I guess that explains why he hasn't been Riverboat Ron since 2015. Then I'm fully in the move on after 2018 camp, even if we win the Super Bowl (not holding my breath on that either - I'm 50/50 on whether we make the playoffs at all).

we don't need to have names, we don't get to do the interviews either.  its weird.   the fear of getting worse is ridiculous.    then you try again.  this isn't a marriage you settle for because you can't do better.  this is football.  quit thinking like a wuss.   cutting losses is one of the hardest lessons to learn in life

If I could pie this a million times I would.

Bro he's dodging the easiest question that's been asked in this thread. It's comical at this point, how does someone want change but can't name anyone to take over.

It'll take Ron and Co to completely fall on their faces to get fired, people forget we have the 5th most wins in the league since 2012 or 2013.

That is when  Cam came into his own.  How many playoff games did that winning bring?  Being good is not an excuse for not being great.

I am not sure if falling on the face is necessary---if he is preventing us from getting rings when we should already have one---he will not fool the powers that be any longer.  Ron has 2 saviors---Cam Newton and Luke Kuechly.  Both have saved his job since around 2012 or 2013.

Funny how so many Huddlerz can act like smug dips, but cannot be bothered to answer the question. Or when they do anlswer it, they want to change the criteria to make their stance sound better.

With as many folks that want to fire Rivera. You would think they would have some opinion on who to replace him with. But nah, just ridicle, and snark. This fuging place is a joke.

Let's blow this team up. Let's start the rebuild. That would surely give you twits something to complain about.

Huddlers are the elite few of the fanbase and our views typically don't reflect the fanbase as a whole.

As a member of this fan base. I sure would not want to be associated with most of these people. Especially, if they act as squirrly in real life, as they do on here.

Gotta risk it to get the biscuit.  This coach has no heart for the game.  A boring SOB stuck in 1985.  Literally ANYONE out there probably could do better with this much talent.  You don't need to name names to know that.

lol it's cute when kids think they got ya. "Literally ANYONE out there probably could do better with this much talent." lol you can't make this shiit up.

You started off like you had a pair, then wilted under the pressure. "You don't have to name names to know that." I actually giggled at that one.
