The Panthers made the decision in the offseason. fug THE FANS, JAKE IS OUR GUY, WE'RE EVEN GONNA RE-UP TO PROVE OUR LOVE FOR HIM. Well, you made your bed bitches, now sleep in it. The Panthers goal was to be the 1st successful franchise led by a QB that over half their fanbase doesnt believe in or support. LOL.

When actually given the chance to play with the best talent, not just scrubs, he far outplayed both of them.

But I guess when you're last on field success was 2+ years ago only means something when you're trying to defend Delhomme...

They all basically played the same that year

Vinny 94/172 952 yards 5 TD 6 INT Rating: 65.8

Carr 73/136 635 yards 3 TD 5 INT Rating: 58.3

Moore 63/111 730 yars 3 TD 5 INT Rating: 67.0

And just for comparison on how the rest of the offense was playing

Jake 55/86 624 yards 8 TD 1 INT Rating: 111.8

When a team goes on the skids, the first thing that usually gets said is "Fire the Quarterback." Why? Because it takes the least thought and energy.

QB throwing a lot of interceptions? It's all his fault, gotta be. Team not winning? QB is screwing it up.

Next, a few people will move a few neurons around and put a wee bit more thought to it and come up with "Fire the Coach!" Everything runs through the coach, right, so let's fire him and that jerk of a quarterback, too, while we're at it.

But man, anyone who has ever played anything more than fantasy football or Madden knows is that problems like Carolina had at the beginning of the season are much more complex than can be laid on a single person's shoulders. No matter how much some idiot wants to do that.

Look at our discourse around here lately. Even with the last two wins, there has been someone to scapegoat after each game. Jake's a constant, Fox and Hurney, too. Pep's been a big one this year, Godfrey is a popular one right now, Smitty as well. Heck, I remember threads about how we should trade Johnathan Stewart not too long ago.

Really, what gives? Should we just line everyone up and cut a pink slip to every third player in line? What about pack in the season now after two wins, hire a U-Haul truck for the coach and start tuning in to watch Falcons games instead?

Give me a break. You want to know what? It's something that I believe makes some people on this board physically sick -- we've won games now, with all of the same players in place. And guess what? The team is actually getting better, believe it or not. The problems are being worked out and Fox might pull a rabbit outta his hat before the season's over.

Hell, I'm going to keep watching, and I sure hope he does. Why? Because this is my favorite team and I always want them to win. But I'm also an adult and have realized that sometimes your team loses one. I'm big enough to go on about my life and wait for the next week.

Any thoughts of "Man, that guy's game sucked this week," or "We looked a little weak in the secondary" are just watercooler conversation material. But man, some of you folks want to see blood, you act like the failures of a player on a sports team were a personal let down to you and you deserve revenge.

Get a grip. Pull for your team, man up and take the lumps in loss and enjoy the wins. But let it go, and don't salivate over your next chance to be a star and start your very own "Fire Jake" "Fire Fox" or "Fire Everyone" threads (supplies limited, call now to get your very own!).

Again as a QB you are a leader and you expect most of the blame and most of the glory.

Wenkie was not the reason we went 1-15 (he was OK for a rookie QB back then not now they have higher standards now Thanks Flacco and Ryan) But those 15 striaght lose followed him more then any other player on that team.

Lets find a reason for Jake being so bad Other then Jake. The Panther Blame game.

The David Carr disaster just proves that Fox will make a change at QB if he feels like he has a back up that can do it better. Evidently, that's not the case right now.

BTW, if anybody really thinks that Delhomme gets special treatment and you want to know why, just listen to Jake's teammates, not the HC. Right after that Bucs game, DeAngelo Williams emphatically said that Jake was the leader of this offense in every way. Like it or not, the players want him running the show, and that means more than what the fans, media, or even the HC thinks.

Far outplayed them?? He completed 56% of his passes and had a passer rating of 67. So he was better than Carr's 57 rating and and Vinny's 65 rating. Not exactly an endorsement or a justification to play him 2 years later when his play has not improved by all accounts. If he were better we wouldn't have gotten McCown and now Feeley. McCown was not going to be lost for the season but we couldn't afford to wait for him to heal if that meant Moore was going to start.

It is funny to me how no one could bring up Jake's past to defend him yet all I hear about with Moore was how he played for 3 games 2 years. Anyone think the game Weinke saved at Detroit in 2005 helped him win any games in 2006? But it sure was used as a justification for him to start. Same logic here. 2 years ago might as well be decades for how relevant it is. he is evaluated in practice every day and guess what?? Some of those reps are with the starters. And the bottom line is Jake still starts. And it isn't loyalty since Fox has proven that he will play a backup or a rookie over a starter. Look at Munnerlyn.

Moore isn't the answer as much as I would like him to be. I have been a big moore supporter in the past and am frankly perplexed by what his issues are. I just don't think I know better how to judge talent than the professionals and believe that they are trying to put the best players on the field instead of following some conspiracy theory.

However, most of Moore's interceptions came in junk time after we had already brought Vinnny/Carr out of the game.

Plus Moore got most of those yards and touchdowns in his 3 starts. In comparison, Vinny had 6 starts, and Carr 4 (really 5 if you count the game in which Jake got hurt)

it is crazy how some here are trying to shoot down matt moore, like he stole thier girls or something. you guys act like he was in the league for years when he came in. He was a UNDRAFTED ROOKIE who came into camp late that year. how many 1st round rookies even got to play that year, were even as good as him that year for that many games. you guys are acting like he should have come in and outright beat delhomme as a rookie! then the next year he gets hurt and this is his 3rd year. if you guys can find all these excuses for delhomme being in the bottom 3 for qbs, why not for matt moore a kid in his 3rd year not his 8th or 9th, and 3rd year not even starting.

You can't cherry pick for him without doing it for everyone else. Anyone want to ignore the eagles game for jake and the 5 turnovers and see what his rating is without that game?? How about the Nashville game for Carr?? If everything counts, then it all does. Or are the rules different for Moore than anyone else??

Garbage time is a QB's best friend. If you can't look good in garbage time, you're not very good. I'm not saying Jake should be in, but seriously some people need to bring their views of Matt Moore back down to earth.

Thinking objectively is a weakness to many here. :smash:

Again, a big part of why Moore's stats from 2 years ago is so low is because of all the junk time he played in (9 games played, but only 3 starts). When he came in, everyone knew we were going to be throwing the ball. If you look at the games in which he started, he was a lot better.

Moore just isn't a practice player, much like Jake wasn't one early on in his career (remember how he couldn't beat out Aaron Brooks?)

How many people want to bet that Fox is keeping Matt Moore on the bench just to piss off the fans?

Anyone? Five to one odds? Anyone?

This is the NFL. A coach lives and dies by wins and losses. All this "loyalty" crap is just that, crap. In the cut throat business of NFL head coaching, you play to win, always, unless your career is over and you're just phoning it in.

And Fox isn't doing that. Neither is Delhomme. If you were able to fire John Fox, how long do you think he'd be unemployed? People were willing to give Mangini a shot... I mean, come on, Fox is very, very valuable in the available coaches pool. Al Davis would risk and anuerism to have him work magic on the Raiders like he did with the Panthers. Add the Browns, Texans, Jaguars, Chiefs, Bills and Rams to that list. Probably a couple more.

And Jake wouldn't be sitting at home unemployed next year either. Bet on it.
