That's a big concern for me this Sunday.

Wentz did ok against us last year, but we helped him a lot with 3 turnovers.  For two of his three td passes, his starting field position was the Carolina 12 and the Carolina 17.  Take away those int's inside our 20, and his numbers were pedestrian.  That's not to say that he won't play great on Sunday, but we helped him our a lot last year.  If we avoid doing so this year, we might have a decent shot at a win.

You know, I've been thinking about this whole CMC / CJ thing.  To an extent, I understand the line of thought that says CMC can run between the tackles.  However, I have come to think that perhaps we just aren't asking the right question.

I think a more appropriate question hearkens back to the years of DeAngelo and Jonathon in their heyday.  It wasn't that D'Will "couldn't" run between the tackles, because he could.  However, we tended to ask him to stretch outside more.  Inverse with Stew.

Shouldn't we instead be asking "Why would we run CMC between the tackles?" . . . we employ a guy who is clearly better at that particular piece of the running game.  Why not use him there?  Again, yes, we need to give CMC some runs between the tackles just so we aren't as predictable . . . but giving CJ a number of touches between the tackles would benefit us with more yards and better 2nd and 3rd down situations.

Instead of 2nd and 8 we get 2nd and 6.  Instead of 3rd and 7 we have 3rd and 2.

Why are we asking whether CMC can run between the tackles.  Instead, we really need to ask should CMC run between the tackles.

I think Ron and Norv come up with an amazing gameplan this game on offense, then quickly revert the next week. They're convinced their gameplans are golden going in based on matchups and when it doesn't work, they blame the players. Don't attempt to change anything.

Funny you mention zip zilch and nada. Because as I recall that was the sum total of our run game outside of Cam Newton beyond the first 5 runs to start the game.

Nobody is arguing Newton is blameless. That's bullshit and you know that. But let me ask you this. What other starting quarterback in the NFL is tasked with literally leading his team in rushing, and passing up and down the field for nearly 4 full quarters?

I mean from where I'm standing Cam Newton is the only reason that game didn't turn into a blowout from the jump. Let alone leading us somehow back into contention in the final seconds.

Honestly, just the fact that a Panthers fan would throw out that Cam is a 100 million dollar QB in a context as if he isn't earning that while being somehow unaware just how much of a damn bargain that contract is considering how much he has carried our offense over the years makes me realize how much the guy is taken for granted. He isn't perfect at all. But we are absolute dogshit without him.

    Man, I get tired of the same damm rhetoric. GB can't run the ball, and they don't make the playoffs regularly. Same with Detroit. Lots of teams struggle to run the ball. And those exact teams struggle to make the playoffs.

 

    Now here's the rub. You want to make the playoffs? Then we have to let Cam help in the running game. 

 

    I hope that doesn't burst your bubble about Cam. Because until we get an OC that can scheme an Offense where Cam can just be a QB. Cam is a RB/QB for this team.

Seriously this forum has come to this? ladypanther (whom has often thrown himself or herself) into plenty of debates and side comments....complains about the state of this forum. Yet makes a serious point that the vast majority of people here whom actually seem to have a problem because they post 30+_times per day and have upwards of 10,000 posts even though we were all reset some years ago (for real...see a doctor)...continue to pollute. They do it in this thread even though some of the same sided with him (or her) in that other thread~

All you people suck azz. Seriously. The best news I heard out of all of this fallout was that apparently reddit does what this forum does for so many: provide updates and news on the team without the drama! I believe I'll have to check that out!

Hello y'all!  New here from Florida, moved from NC, went to NC State years ago....but been a panthers fan since they became a team.  I think this game can go either way as long as no turnovers.  I believe it will be a fight to the end.  And yes....had to have my heart checked many times because I nearly stroke out every game that's close.  LOL  Go panthers!
