Why has Cam been the worst QB in football on deep passes this year?

This x1000. It doesn't take a football expert to watch our team and come to this conclusion.

We're the equivalent of the annoying gnats and mosquitoes that just gnaw away at you over time.

Other teams are just the bullies that show up and whip you and then forget about you later, lol.

How exactly did we get to speculating on the health of Newton's throwing shoulder just because our deep passing game hasn't been there so far this season?

We have a number of doctors on the huddle apparently.

I think that if you look at his passing charts, he's always in the yellow (average) or red in 20+ yard passes. It isn't like this was all of a sudden, either, lol.

Nobody wants to blame the inadequate WRs we're starting or the HC we're employing.

That's what I was thinking.

Wasn't there similar discussion a few years back speculating that Cam's deep ball was all but gone? I know it was when we had Ginn still. But for some reason our deep game just wasn't opening up yet. Fast forward to the end of the season and nobody really mentioned it anymore. Basically this discussion isn't anything relatively new. The shoulder is just a new layer that gives more fuel to already fickle fans looking for an excuse to begin planning moving on from Newton. The guy is 29 lol.

There was a fluff piece about Norv having the capability of making all kinds of adjustments for different scenarios on the fly the week leading up to the game. Fast forward to gameday and we run the football 5 straight times and never gain more than a handful of yards from our running backs the rest of the game. Including zero, yes 0 snaps for CJ Anderson.

Different offensive coordinator, same poo. It begins and ends with Ron Rivera and the type of football he has made it abundantly clear that he wants to play at all costs.

That’s a legit question,..

does he have the yips from surgery or is it some problem from not having enough practice on them with the emphasis being so heavily on short passes?

I think he is concentrating so much on timing short routes that not much practice has been done with the wrs in the long routes. If you havent done something in a while you have to knock the rust off.

The deep pass is not only one of the more important elements of a Coryell offense; it also happens to be one of Cam Newton's best skills.

Perfect Storm, right?

But we're not using it, and teams have caught on to the fact that we're not using it, and it's allowing them to be more effective on defense against us.

I have a really hard time seeing that as a conscious decision. If it was, it'd be a stupid one.

Gotta believe something's up.

So here's the thing. If we can't throw deep anymore because supposedly Cam Newton's throwing arm has deteriorated so much after surgery that it's basically about to fall off, why were we still running him with little concern late in the game while the bruising RB we signed in free agency sat on the bench?

Scheme and situation dictates who’s on the field bro
