Coaching, with a dabble of players mixed in for fun.

I put most of the blame on the coaching staff here, specifically Ron Rivera.

Since the kickoff of 2016, this team is 4 and 10 against our division rivals, including playoffs.

We are continuing to trot out the same "run the ball stop the run" nonsense for years on end.

We play a style of football that is both tired, and going against what the NFL has designed it's rules around.

Just like everyone else that was infected with Jerry Richardson's lackadaisical approach to winning, Ron too fell victim.  He doesn't coach to win the game, he coaches not to lose.  Far too rigid for todays NFL.

I, for one, don't want to hear another word about 2015, and the magical season that was.  That was a lifetime ago in the NFL, but for some reason, many of us are still referencing it.

With Rivera at the helm, it feels like 2015 is the high water mark.  Looking back on those games, lady luck was very kind to us in some opportune moments in  the Packers, Saints, Seahawks, Colts and Giants games.  Even in games we dominated, Cam was threading needles and throwing into traffic regularly with little consequence.   Even then, I found myself saying Cam is going to get burned on that one day, but who cares, we're winning.  Well, then 2016 happened, and well, luck was not a lady anymore.

If anyone is being honest here it was 100% the players for losing the Redskins game, more specifically DJ Moore, if your answer is anything but that you are lying to yourself.

heck if DJ Moore only fumbles once we still win. Let that sink in.

Now for the offense and Defense struggling I’d say it’s about 50/50 coaches and players for various reasons. I won’t argue that.

I didn’t mean to create hostility with a simple poll and I am sorry people don’t like the fact that there are only two choices.

I put the word “More” in the question for a reason. I am sure no one on this forum thinks that it is solely the players or coaches fault. That is why I asked who is “More” to blame. If you feel it is a dead 50/50 split then I am sorry there is not a “both” option. I am just trying to gauge which way the scale is tipping.

We all love tits and ass but you’d be lying if you said you’ve never been asked if you’re a tits or an ass man.

You're good mang! No hostility here, and like I said, if we don't like either choice we can just vote for neither and post our opinion.

And to the latter, definitely, but then you get those folks who respond that they prefer hips or legs.

Or feet.... Some folks love feet for whatever reason.

Just noticed you're in Charleston. I'm a bartender at The Alley downtown.

No it’s both or 50/50 bullshit. I just want to see where the majority of our fans stand with the current state of the Panthers and our struggles this season.

I personally feel coaching has been a much bigger issue across the board. Talent wise I would argue we are stronger at almost every position compared to last year. (Norwell and Williams being the major exceptions)

I think Van Roten has been every bit as solid as Norwell was.  Same goes for Moton over Williams.  So, by your logic, it has to be coaching.  And, IMO, that's not only play selection, but more on which players are on the field, and how they're utilized.  With Olsen back, our skill players on Offense should easily be generating over 30 points a game.

    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
    • Well, we got our answer on Army today.
    • Not a chance the SEC could compete with the NFL.  In the large cities that are not in the Southeast, (LA, NYC, Chicago, SF) College football is an afterthought.
