How would you play our team?

Like most here, I've been pretty miffed about losing that game yesterday, but at the same time I'm not real sure why.  We know this team plays down to it's competition, and sometimes we get the bounce, and sometimes we don't.  Yesterday, we got no bounces.

The loss does have me thinking though, and although I don't have time to expand on it today, I wanted to throw it out there.

How would you play against the Panthers?  Offense, defense, ST, or all together.

You are the HC, what's your game plan to beat the Panthers?

Run at our DE and outside LB

and isolate safeties and nickel with speed receivers

id blitz every play and cover underneath....force cam into long throws

our coaches won’t react to either and make any adjustments

Our coaches don’t make any adjustments is a pure myth from haters.

We just magically came back from 0-17 to almost winning the game with 0 adjustments yesterday.

you could also see us adjust to the giants. You can sometimes scheme things and sometimes just try to avoid putting players out there. At the end of the Giants game you could tell that Rivera didn’t want to put the defense out there at all. Becuase he had no faith that we could stop them. Luckily they scored fast and Gano kicked the crap out of that ball.

Also sometimes adjustments don’t work, and that can be because the other team counters or you just don’t have the players. Which is many times the case.

Offense: focus on getting the ball out quickly in the passing game and focus runs to the outside. We tend to focus on shutting down tbe run by clogging the middle and we tend to play our DBs off.

Defense: On the read option, have clear assignments. OLB has CMC, DE has Cam. Don't allow the reads to confuse the individual players so that they can attack instead of reading and waiting. Maintain gap assignment on the run. CMC has very good vision and if there's a sliver he's going to hit it. Get up on the line and challenge the receivers early. Make us prove that we can threaten down the field because so far we haven't.

Blitz like hell on the defense. Dink and dunk like hell on offense. 60% of the time, it works every time.

Keep 8 in the box and trail McCaffrey with your strong safety. Play press man coverage against the receivers.

Blitz off the edges with extra men and keep the MLB in the middle of field to spy on Cam. Employ the nickel blitz to Cam’s blind side on 3rd and long.

On offense attack the middle of the field and take what the soft zone gives you. Look off the safeties and look for the tight end up the seam. Attack Bradberry deep, it won’t always work but you’re highly unlikely to get picked off. Also employ the playaction early and often, as we love to sell out against the run.

Timing, 3 step drop throw to spot.  Slants, outroutes and curls in the passing game.

Running game, if you have a scat back, bench him, just pound the rock.  Our DT's are overpaid and crappy at stopping the run.  Run right up the gut for 3-4 yards a pop.  (this is why Gio Bernard and yes Saquon barkley looked bad, but Coleman and AP looked like all pros).

On offense it's harder, go 4-3 or nickel with a spy on cam.  Dare cam to beat you with with the receivers.  Receivers are better, but I don't trust a single one to win a game.

Wouldn’t need to worry about doing anything on defense because my offense is going to score enough points for that to not even matter.

Quick slants and TE seam routes all the way down the field to destroy this soft zone defense.

Or maybe just sign a banged up 35 year old running back on his last leg and let him ram it down our throats.

Well for starters I’d hit the bar pretty hard the night before knowing that all I had to do was out smart Ron Rivera. As long as I woke up in time for kickoff I’m in the clear.

On offense I’d attack the secondary. Wouldn’t even worry about establishing the run. Short, intermediate and deep routes, I’d run them all knowing my QB would have lots of time in the pocket.

On defense like others have stated I’d make Ron and Norv pass. I’d make Carolina beat me by using their WR’s. I’d protect against the run and Cam’s legs and make the WR’s win their matchups.

I don’t have a special teams unit because I have a nutsack and my team goes for it on 4th down. After picking up a first on 4th down I drop my jorts so Rivera can see what a set of balls looks like.

In Defense

Shutdown the Run by putting 8 in the box,

Spy on CAM so his gains are minimal

Play Man to Man with Receivers all game, they dont get separation often/enough/fast enough

Make Cam throw many passes

There will be incompletions or even worse turnovers in the passing game

In Offense,

WCO dink and dunk

Take care of the ball

Yes put 8 in the box and watch for short passes. I wouldn’t worry about deep passes because cam can’t do that On offense just short and long passes and a few runs sprinkled in

    • Just admit that you don’t follow all the draft discussions on here. If draft results were so random, how come some teams tend to be perennial losers like us and some teams are perennial winners and it all starts with the draft? It’s almost comical these type of stupid responses. Oh, why aren’t you the GM? Gee I wonder since I work in a completely different field. How about you give us some examples of where the huddle consensus drafting was worse than our drafting from 2018 to 2025? I know I’ve given a ton of examples and you just shoot this generic poo of oh you couldn’t possibly done better as an armchair GM. Why don’t you dispute any of my examples? Let’s go to Brooks. I wanted Frazier at C because I still feel like that’s a hole. Other Huddlers mentioned DeJean at CB. Here’s why many of us didn’t want Brooks because 1) he might not play due to tearing his ACL late in the college season, 2) any scout/GM worth their salt would know that the 2025 RB draft class was loaded and 3) trading up multiple picks knowing 1 and 2 seems silly. Heck, after the draft, pretty clear that day 3 was where the RB value was. The huddle was right on Brooks and at most, we’ll get 2 years of Brooks while Hubbard is still under contract. If you know so much about the underlying machinations of the draft, you should be able to dispute the actual examples and how the huddle’s picks were just plain lucky and how Dan, Scott and Marty’s picks were just unlucky. Pulling the why aren’t you an NFL GM is a much repeated response when an actual reasoned response isn’t possible. Our drafting hasn’t been unlucky the past 7 drafts, it’s just been bad with lost of idiotic moves that were far worse than the huddle consensus.

    • 100%!! Last year we focused completely on offense, and it made leaps, especially when Bryce settled in for the 2nd half of the season. We kept all those players and improved our RB stable this free agency! This year we focused almost entirely on D, specifically our run D. I expect it to jump to at least average, which would be awesome considering they are starting at dead frikin last. Our draft class from last year, however, doesn't exactly make me tingle. I know, I know..."traded away our first round pick, give them time to develop", but still. The 1 gem was Coker, a UDFA who I really like, but he ain't exactly Randy Moss. We have to do better! We can't afford to only build via Free agency.
