Cam had a 93.2 passer rating yesterday

How many of those have we actually had a lead and sat on it, forcing us to have to come back?

I'm not being rhetorical, just curious and lazy.

Newton has 14 4th Q Come from behind wins. Only four of those time did we actually head into the 4th Q behind... Sad. And most if not all of them was from 2013 or before.

Rivera....

Passer rating is as arbitrary of a stat for him as it's always been, just instead of it working against his playstyle it's inflated now thanks to the checkdown offense. The loss ain't solely on him but the fact is even with the defense and DJ pooing the bed we win that game if weren't for Cam's bad decisions at some critical points. This is not one of those games where he did everything right and the team just let him down.

Remember before the season when Norv talked about eliminating the valleys and peaks in Cam's play? Well, I think we're seeing exactly that, he hasn't played badly in any game but we also haven't seen that explosive 4 TD performance we see from time to time. The goal now is the raise the floor to where he's explosive every game while still taking care of the ball.

Cam has a great day throwing the ball and we can't run at all

this fanbase loses their mind over fuging CJ Anderson after years of pleading for Rivera to stop running so much

Classic. Only fanbase with an MVP level QB that will complain about the backup RBs carries. Look at the rest of the run block personnel snap counts. The coaches didn't want to even bother fighting a losing battle against Payne and Allen and they were right based off Cam being the most effective.

Curtis Samuel's snaps were an issue but it's clear they went with vets to try to make a comeback.

The 2018 version of the Panthers defense is definitely not what we’re used to seeing, but you can’t put everything on them for the loss. They held the Skins in check after giving up the huge lead.

Lots of blame on the coaching staff. Looked like the team was sleep walking the entire first half and as usual the play calling and time management were issues.

Samuel only getting a couple touches, Moore making rookie mistakes, no CJ.

Everything adds up to a disappointing loss

Another thing to note about the defense is that they are getting hardly any three and outs. In fact, we are ranked 24th in the NFL in three and outs.

Three and outs aren’t a big deal when you have a quick strike offense like Atlanta, New Orleans, or Kansas City but it’s a huge deal when your team is built on maintaining the time of possession.

We had zero three and outs in the second half and because of that we only had three opportunities to score in the second half. We came away with 10 points on three drives which is 3.3 points per drive (it’s a small sample size but that would rank second in the NFL behind only New Orleans). In fact, Carolina is ranked in the top 10 in points per drive.

The offense in the second half gave us a chance to win.

I still think those last three plays were poorly called but we honestly shouldn’t have even been in the game with the way the defense played.

If this defense was 2015 elite this team would be a Super Bowl contender.

I thought the D played pretty well yesterday considering the offense and special teams turned the ball over three times.

People here get so sensitive anytime Cam is criticized and while yesterday's loss was not entirely on him, this is the third game this year where his decision making during the 2 minute offense was lacking.  If you want to put this game on someone, that someone is DJ Moore.

We had a chance to win in the final minute after turning the ball over 3 times.  It's not all on the D.

The defense couldn't make a stop to save their lives throughout most of the game. Fumbles or no. When the other team doesn't respect you enough to go for 4th and 4 and then get it with yards to spare, you definitely have to focus on the defense.

Washington has the 5th ranked D in the league. We were never going to light it up away from home.

Our D managed to force 0 turnovers. Just one would have been the difference.

It ain't all on the D, but a sizable chunk of it is.

I agree a big chunk is on the D.  They forced no turnovers... however they did force punts, especially at the end, giving the offense one more attempt.  We had a chance to win.  The O blew it, on multiple occasions, and then in dramatic fashion at the end.  If I had to pick, the O blew this one.  If we are going to average 17 points a game in this pass happy league, we might as well just pack it in.

We have the talent.  Our GMs have addressed our weaknesses and put talent on the field.  Coaching better turn this around.  I assure you, Tepper is not going to fire Cam Newton.

How about the other throws he air mailed on the last drive...refs fault too? Or missing a wide open Greg Olsen?

What about all those throws that put us in that situation? It is too convenient to forget Cam was 18-20 to that point.

But let us not forget that Brady missed a wide open Gronk for us to win. Cuz we all know it is only Cam that misses those throws.
