Fox: Delhomme hasn't changed

The stats say he has changed quite a bit.

When thinking about what could be bothering Jake so much I wonder how much an effect that Mike McCoy leaving had on him. That's honestly the only thing that has changed from this year. I wonder if some of the "new drills" this Scherer guy has been doing have actually set Delhomme back. Not that a 34 year old QB should be set back by drills but maybe Jake didn't prepare the way McCoy had him get ready for the season and it has effected him. Maybe McCoy saw things during the game that helped Jake that Scherer doesn't see. This is far fetched I know but its the only thing I can think of that is different about this year.

There was one thing that struck me about this that I wondered if anyone else would take up. Almost no one did to this point, possibly because we're all so focused on "defend jake" vs "bash Jake". This is the closest to what I was wondering.

We've got a new QB coach this year who's brought in a very different approach than was used before. Scherer came in with a plan to re-focus on fundamentals and fill in some gaps in Delhomme's game.

Set aside whether Delhomme is better or worse at this point, and answer this. If, as Fox suggests, Delhomme is no different than before, why isn't he?

Fox is just trying to diffuse some of the pressure. Game planning week in and week out is enough work without worrying about what you need to change. That's a losers mentality. Focus needs to be on what needs to be done this week to be successful. Fox saying Jake is no different than before is an attempt to focus forward rather than backwards.

That's part of Jake's problem. He flashes back to the negative every time something goes wrong. You could see it in his face against Philly. Lots of this stuff happens at a subconscious level. Perhaps McCoy was a pretty good sports psych guy.

Did you every notice Fox in a game when the camera is on him. Hes always ***** with that head set controller on his belt. Hes jackin with that thing like its a new body appendage. He's always looking down at it with a confused look on his face. How many buttons could that thing have? An 'on/off' switch, a 'talk/mute' button maybe?

Anyway, I think thats when our problems started....
