Eric Reid

How many receiving touchdowns don't have a safety out of position? And Alex Smith (who really is one of the smartest QBs in the league) did a good job of looking off the safety, like we've seen a hundred times in other games. Reid did bite on it and ended up way out of position.

That netted seven points.

He prevented a lot more by making some serious tackles in the run game as Methuselah Peterson was able to break through our line and linebackers into the secondary on multiple occasions.

Safeties are your last ditch guys. When those guys break down, there's usually a trail of other players' mistakes leading to that spot.

I say give the guy a few more weeks to get up to speed and in football shape.

I'd probably wait a few more weeks before I'd be ready to say anything.

He certainly hasn't been spectacular so far, but I wouldn't say he's been horrible either. He's just kind of there.

Ultimately for me though, the biggest mistake was people underestimating just how bad our defense was. People were talking Super Bowl and acting like the signing of Reid made us go from top ten to top five. The reality so far has been that it might have taken us from being really bad to not quite as bad, though even that might be generous.

About the only thing I feel comfortable definitively saying is that we're better then we would be if Colin Jones was starting.

Still pretty bad, though...

Defense in this day and age is kinda fickle. I mean look at the Jags defense the past two games and even Chicago allowed 20 points today. You really need a defense that applies pressure and a offense that scores points. Right now we have a defense that applies no pressure and a offense that scores little points. This is all schemed as well because time control is put at such a high priority. Change that and we start beating good teams.

*deep sigh* I'm convinced that 95% of you are idiots who have no literal football knowledge, and are also "internet tough guys"

Never seen so many people wish for others to fail, ESPECIALLY those on their team. Smh

The guy has been as solid as you can expect from someone who just got signed off the couch. But ranting wouldn't solve anything. Just be quiet and keep watching the games. You know kind of how you want these players to shut up and play. Keep that same energy

Crazy part is the red hats say "social justice" as though that a bad thing. These weirdos are soo preoccupied with race they can't even cheer on "their team". Mental midgets.

Literally dude if there weren’t social justice people out there I wouldn’t have any rights  As a woman as a black woman. so I really can’t really vibe with people who make light of that or use that as some kind of insult. They’re so up their own ass they don’t even realize how fuged up they sound.

I said it weeks ago, the dude is a cancer and will divide the locker room.  I actually think it’s already happened.  It only human nature, there are guys in the locker room that don’t agree and others that do, it’s going to divide it no matter what you think.

I think you want that to be true so you’re saying it as true. You’re too emotional right now, all right ? you’re not good when you’re like this all right! go get a snickers and some milk and come back when you’re able to process things not through your emotional and biased filled lenses. I think you just don’t like his stance and you figure it to be a distraction ( BECAUSE IT BOTHERS YOU SO MUCH) HOWEVER ultimately  it is really just a simple question of where you stand nothing more nothing less.   Plenty of people voice their opinion‘s at jobs all right! now you may not be friends and hugging each other but you’re still there to work and get your job done. if you can’t focus you were never THAT focused. so this bullshit about him being a distraction when these are grown ass men who are paid millions of dollars to focus and win I don’t really know what to tell you.  you’re  babying them and if someone simply saying there are biases in America bother you so much then it’s probably because you don’t really want to face that fact. And yes it is a fact we can admit it when we make stereo typical jokes but not in serious conversation. we don’t ever really truly expound on how it is pervasive through everything we do. People want to be comfortable with their borderline bullshit and think that you know holding hands and singing Kumbaya is enough ( when it’s not ... Like that has ever solved deep issues in societies).  had he been saying something that goes with the grain and doesn’t make people uncomfortable there would not be all this out rage. If he was kissing veterans asses ( Which we do so much of but don’t actually get to the root and help their problems just Put on a big ass show) no one would say anything shoot I think if he would’ve talked about bullying in America people would’ve had a problem with it so just go somewhere else. Eric erks you for reasons you are not yet comfortable with disclosing aloud or coming to terms with yourself so Go to sleep. I don’t hate you but I really hate that you are this stupid and making all these assumptions so quickly give it time and get some rest I know I will be.

Honestly, I think you guys are overreacting pretty hard here. It's like you're looking for a reason to hate him because he takes knees.

It's his 3rd week on the team, he was on the couch beforehand, he is adjusting to a new defense, he primarily played in a 3-4 as opposed to a 4-3 so zone coverages look different, he's been a solid tackler when guys do get to him and that's the strong aspect of his game, not coverage.

Dude's been fine so far. About what I expected. People anticipating an all-pro were over-selling the guy. He's a solid vet Safety and he will only get better the more comfortable he gets.

The people I personally am disappointed in are the D-line and LBers. They've gotten no pressure, can't take on the O-line, can't get away from their blockers, and are missing tackles all over the place.

Luke does not look like Luke right now. I don't know if it's Washington's fault or what, but the entire defense looks anemic and bad.

The short and curly of it all: Reid is on the low end of the list of top reasons for why we suck.
