If we have to keep Matt Kalil...heaven forbid.

No.  He isn't.  According to both spotrac and overthecap it costs us more money to cut him than it does to keep him next year.  Why would we do that?  It doesn't make sense.

Everyone wants him gone, sure.  But not if getting rid of him hurts us more.  I don't care if we use some injury farce to keep him at home next year.  Or we simply make him inactive every game.  Doesn't matter.  But we aren't gonna piss away 1.8 million just so we can not have MK on the roster.

Yeah I haven’t look but I remember the initial deal he signed made it possible for us to cut him after this season. However, didn’t Hurney restructure his deal this offseason that basically took that “out” after the 2nd year and pushed it down to after year 3?

Actually no to this.  If we cut him next year as a post June 1st cut he cost us 4.9 million against the cap for 2019.  That saves about 8 million against the cap for 2019.  However, he then cost about 9.8 million for 2020.  Which only saves about 1 million for 2020.  So you could cut him next year and it won't cost that much next year, but 2020 we are going get fugged.

Because, as nicely as I can say this, you don’t understand what you’re reading.

The only number that matters is the 25M guaranteed that had to be accounted for on the cap.

2017- 3.4M

2018–6.9M

cut after season as June 1 so you can split the remaining 14.7M over next 2 years. Meaning....

 2019-4.9M

2020- 9.8M

The only thing you are doing is handing him 7M for nothing and it doesn’t provide any cap relief? Are you suggesting we just pay him even MORE to do nothing?

No. There was never an “out”. Gettleman screwed it up from day one.

If he wasn’t such a fuggin parasite he would retire but too damn greedy.  He knows damn well he hasn’t earned that money.  Fuggin loser.

He is the number 1 reason why I hope we never sign another huge contract free agent.  It rarely works out.

Perfect. So he’s gone after this season then.

I’d hand the reigns over to Moton. Hopefully Williams price tag has gone down with his injury. I’d even be willing to do a one year deal with Williams if he wanted to prove he can stay healthy and get his big pay day the following season.

I’d also bring back Clark if he wanted to continue playing. There is absolutely no reason to have Kalil on this roster.

Gone June 1st, we cut him pre June first it’s a $8m dead cap hit, post June 1st it’s $4m
