We had the slowest paced offense in 2017, currently tied for 4th slowest this season

It doesn't correlate to points, but it would be better if we could get the plays in sooner, so we don't have to waste timeouts.

I really don't think this is a "get plays in sooner" kind of thing. You can't be an OC for a pro team and have issues with making a decision. As Cam said it is hard to recite some of the play calls when you are out of breath. Also, most of our plays have a lot of pre-snap movements and adjustments. When we break the huddle at 7-9 second mark, that doesn't leave us much time.

I focused on when the team broke the huddle this past week, and it was disturbing how late they were getting to the line.

I think this very problem is much more a result of our "pace" than you do.  I believe that's where we differ in opinion.  I think if we ran a faster offense we would score way more points, and wouldn't have to deal with BS like this week after week.

I don't think it was.  I think it's actually a culture of the team.  When it's time to move their butts, they can't function properly.  When you are waiting til :01 to snap the ball on every single play, I just think you start to lose your urgency overall.  Sure seemed like it.  They weren't hurrying to the line physically speaking either.  They looked completely lost when it was time to run a hurry up offense.

I think is comes down to your QB in that situation. Nothing against Cam, but I don't think line general is his forte. You watch Brady, Brees, Luck, Goff, Wentz, and Big Ben and they have their team at the line and ready with a call already being shouted and acting with a sense of urgency.

This is something the coaches could focus on with Cam. Maybe they are. Something tells me we are going to have quite a bit of come back wins this year, including last minute drives.

Again, this has nothing to do with pace of the offense statistics. Which is a pointless statistic. Chip Kelly had the number 1 POP, and look what that did to his team, especially his defense.

Could you provide an example of a good team that has a faster pace so I could align with you here?

Let's just look at the power rankings.  Four teams ranked ahead of us, all run a faster offense.  Chiefs, Patriots, Rams, Saints.

I'm not saying they're running hurry up offenses, and I'm not suggesting we should.  I do think we should run our offense about 10-15% faster than we do, however.

Yet, three of those teams needed last minute scores to win at least one game this year.

We really cant dictate how each Sunday will turn out based on the pace of the offense brother. It can be a game plan to run your offense faster one week compared to another, but it will never play a role in the difference maker of a win or loss.

We have both stated our opinion, and what I believe is right is what you believe is wrong. However, I think you and I can both agree that pace of play is not a determining factor of whether you win or lose based on how fast your offense is.

I agree.  We took a similar paced offense and scored the most points in the league a few years ago and went 15-1.

A somewhat faster offense, to me, is more of a "fine-tuning" aspect to the team.  The reality is, we could run the offense twice as quickly and may lose 6 more games, just as likely as we would be to win out.

I agree. I wish we ran an offense similiar to the rams. However, they have an offensive genius as a HC. He takes advantage of the 8 second rule, which I believe will be changed by the competition committee next year.

Disagree.  You absolutely can control a game with a fast paced offense.  Especially in the league today.  You put much more pressure on the opposing offense when they know they have to score to keep up.

It's a tried and true formula that works AGAINST the Panthers very often.  If you get a lead on us, we're not coming back from it.

I think both work but it sependa on who your opponent is. You want those long drives on teams like the Saints, Patriots, Steelers, Falcons, Chiefs. These teams have the ability to score quick and possibly with every offensive series score. So you want to keep them on the bench. I hate when we gwt long drives and dont score it negates what you are trying to do bc when u need time to score u run out just like our season ended last yr vs Saints and falcons this yr.

The more things change, the more they stay the same...

Rivera. It's what he wants, despite any and all evidence to the contrary that having a fast paced offense can be beneficial. His hubris in our defense has and will continue to haunt us unless we win the turnover battle every game.
