Not really...

2013 we were 12-4 and 3-2 against playoff teams during the regular season. We lost to SF in the playoffs a team in which we beat during the regular season.

2014 we were awful against playoff teams... beat a back up QB then went on to lose the next game.

2015 was 2015.

2017 we went .500 only to see us lose for a 3rd time in one season to the Saints.

Again, for the amount of talent on this roster we should be getting a lot more in return. This is people’s biggest gripe. Games like Sunday shouldn’t be so close and we shouldn’t need to rely on some lucky bounces.

Also, three of those playoff losses last year were against division opponents.

I mean we’re 1-0 (Bengals) against teams over .500 so I’ll say we’re off to a good start. I could care less what Ron/Norv/Cam/Luke/etc have done in the past

Cam is balling, Luke is all over the place because there’s no TD, and Ron is currently meeting your criteria of beating good teams this season. Why are we bitching?

Giants have a lot of talent, and they fought their asses off.

You want to be dismissive of other teams talents, and how difficult it is to win In the NFL.... must be hell seeing anything with those blunders on.

Because we’ve seen this song and dance before...

I mean I guess at this point you either believe Ron can win a super bowl or he can’t and there isn’t going to be number evidence to convince you to flop sides.

Theres been 7 years of game evidence and at this point everyone’s minds are made up.

Hmm 4/5 years in the playoffs?

I’m not saying we aren’t a good team because we are.

Like i said, there’s enough talent on this roster that playoffs each year should be a given. However, just making the playoffs isn’t good enough for me anymore.

We need someone to get us to the next step

So who the hell are we supposed to lose games against?  The bad teams?

That is why your logic is nonsensical, no offense.  You may as well be saying we should be going 14-2 or some ridiculous record like that every season.  If we go 12-4 and 2 of our losses are to playoff teams, please explain to me how that is supposed to be a bad thing?

And we were not a good team in 2014.  That team was young and missing a lot of talent, especially in the secondary and offensive line.  Going .500 against playoff teams in 2017 is/was not a bad thing, especially considering we went 11-5 (4 of the losses to playoff teams).  That is standard across the NFL.   I don't see how you can sit there and argue it was a bad thing.  No team is going 12-4 slaughtering playoff teams.  Look at any 10+ win team across the NFL and the majority of their losses probably came against other playoff teams.  Because teams lose and good teams probably aren't losing to other bad teams on a regular basis.

You're just overthinking things.  There is no such thing as "Rivera is bad against good teams".  We perform as expected dependent how good our team is in any given season.  That is literally how it is for any team.

I don't get the team is loaded with talent. We were pretty banged up most of our oline has been trash over these years. We were bad in salary cap.

Alot of variables go into a season you can't just throw numbers around. plus we don't play in a cupcake division like the pats. Ron has his faults but this team plays hard for him.

Mystery team since 2011's record vs playoff teams (regular season)

2011 - 5-1

2012 - 1-5

2013 - 2-3

2014 - 3-5

2015 - 0-6

2016 - 1-6

2017 - 5-5

Total in the same time span 17-31.  That team I just looked into was the Saints and no one claims that Payton is a bad coach.  FWIW, I don't think Payton is a great coach or a bad coach either, I think he's average.  I just think this is just more evidence that playoff teams are that for a reason, they are hard to beat.

Lets go beyond Sean Payton.  Lets look at Andy Reid.

2017:  4-2 (4-3 inc playoffs)

2016: 3-2 (3-3 inc playoffs)

2015: 3-4 (4-5 inc playoffs)

2014: 2-4

2013: 1-5 (1-6 inc playoffs)

13-17.  A better % than Rivera, albeit not by much, but doesn't take into account that playoff teams in the NFC >> playoff teams in the AFC for awhile now.  And Rivera coached a team to the Super Bowl in the same span; Chiefs haven't even made the AFC Championship game.  Is anyone gonna argue Andy Reid is a bad coach?

The point is: playoff teams lose games.  Their losses have to come from somewhere.  Would it be better if they beat other playoff teams and lost to bad teams?
