It all has to do with Hurricane relief..

I know once we get our power back, we feel it's all better.  I have relatives that homes had 5 feet of water in them that didn't get flooded in past hurricanes.  There is literally people that lived in $200,000 to $400,000 homes who have lost everything and living in tents in Hampstead NC..  When the news trucks leave, there is still devastation and lives in chaos.. they've lost everything.

Pender county is under water.

Wille Nelson's son Lukas Nelson is coming back to Wilmington 10-23 for a benefit.  He had several dates in NC last year and had a blast filming this video.  Lots of shots of our amphitheater and beaches.  Pretty stand up for him to change his schedule up and come straight here to help.  For every gouger or scoundrel you can find plenty doing everything and anything to help so I let karma and the cops handle the former while doing my best to help the latter.

And I haven't gotten out of ILM lately but the churches here are really stepping up.  Had no idea so many denominations had fully staffed disaster response teams and they are all camped around town still.

I also don't know much about Operation BBQ but the work done by the Cajun Navy and World Central Kitchen was eye-opening.  Not only the people leaving their homes and heading right into danger but the local guys with jon boats and the local chefs all pitching in to help.

Maybe I'm just a glass half-full guy.

Do you mean that Operation BBQ turned away people looking for food? Or turned away individual donations and took corporate donations? Yes, turning away people looking for food but welcoming corporate sponsors in. Telling people that if they wanted food, they needed to get there around 10:30.

What's wrong with Tyson sending trucks to Wilmington? What about it was wrong? They went to Pender County, realized there were no news crews there, and left for Wilmington.

Do you work for Waffle House? Were you gouged on your order post-storm? Plain dry hamburger on a bun handed to you at the door for 5 dollars, because all the booths were filled with WH employees posing for pictures.

Sounds like you've got a bunch of hazy anecdotes that don't really support your assertion. I saw these things firsthand. You saw the news.

I live in Pender County. My house had 3 feet of water, a lot more than when Floyd came through. The FEMA inspector deemed my house uninhabitable. They even gave me up to 30 days in a hotel. Only there are no hotels available. I tried to explain this to them. They said that since I didn't use the hotel room, they were not going to cover it. So I sleep in my van. My wife sleeps at our sons house in Wake Forest.

FEMA isn't really a charity.
