Charlotte sports fans are starting to get older, but still have a long way to go

Tickets are expensive and add the cost of beer, food and what ever else you purchase while you are there and your average fan can't afford to go to 8 home games a year.

A fan from an opposing team who lives in Charlotte may have the opportunity to see their favorite team play in BofA once every 5 years or so, if that. You know they are going to go all out to see their team. We are still a relatively new franchise who's fan base doesn't spread too far from the Carolina's unlike teams like the Cowboys, Steelers, and Giants, who have fans everywhere.

It's been a long while since I have seen our stadium overrun by Falcons, Saints, or Bucs fans. Hell, thanks to the Riot we always have a huge presence in ATL. You can clearly hear LUKE and KEEP POUNDING chants on TV. When is the last time you saw the Falcons pull that off in our house? I think we have been doing one hell of a job as a fan base over the past decade or so.

Revoke PSL licenses from those who sell to opposing fans and that will help a ton.

As much as I appreciate the work and effort of the bring back the buzz guys, they have some flaming hot takes on Charlotte sports that drive me insane sometimes. I had to stop taking in their social media.

Agree. Charlotte fans are getting better, but we have a ways to go. Denver revoked season tickets of fans whose seats weren’t consistently on after market a few years back. Would love to see us do that.

There is no comparison to before 15-1 though. That year changed things

okay so I went to the game and it was my first there. had a blast. but yeah, I was in the club level, home side (339). the visiting club level looked EMPTY. Also, not a lot of giants fans around where I was. besides the one he smacked the guy behind me at the end of the game and ran off with his scumbag new yorker friends/fans.

my real question, is the away club level always empty? even the upper deck looked empty. i didnt think it was even hot, but maybe i had the benefit of the shade.

A person could fry bacon on that side of the stadium if the temp is above 80. It isn’t fun. Before I bought season tickets, I used to get tickets on that side and Aug through mid October, it sucked

This "Charlotte is a milquetoast sports city!" stuff is getting pretty old.

Yeah we are not Pittsburgh. But would you really want to be? Beat ass old mining town that everyone leaves? Of course they have crazy fans what else do they have there?

We have a lot of great fans and I've seen people do dumb things like cheer for the offense at many other stadiums. We also have a lot of people making money selling their tickets to opposing team fans, as is their right to do. They are the same people I get tickets from when I travel to away games. I'm not interested in doing that, but if I needed the money hell yes I'd do it.

Giants fans are loud because they are loud mouth New Yorkers that get a day to act like they are at the Meadowlands.

I thought Panther fans were loud when the Giants were on defense. The problem was the Giants fans were loud when we were on offense. Here is the dilemma. You are supposed to be quiet when we are on offense so what do we do? Outshout them and make even more noise or keep quiet and let's the Giants fans be heard. Or jump them and get kicked out of the stadium.

I was unable to make it to the game, but my Dad and I have been PSL owners since '95 dating back to the the good ole Clemson Death Valley Days!  Dad said he saw MOOSE and not many people recognized who he was.  Dad said he immediately recognized him and said hello!  Dad said that the new Panthers Fans don't recognize some of the former players, and MOOSE wasn't that long ago!

There are more native lifelong Cowboy fans in the Carolinas than there are Panthers fans.  Redskins, too.

Most of the folks that are cowboys redskins etc fans but from the Carolinas is because there was no team here when they were growing up watching. Hell the team wasn’t here when I was born and my dad is a Steelers fan. As the team ages I’m sure we will have more people who grow up panthers fans. Hell most of the cowboys fans that I talked to were from NC or SC somewhere. Folks sitting in front of me were from Winston Salem, some guys walking towards the stadium said they were from Charlotte and my boys dad that went is from Charleston

I don’t know what Buzz brother runs their twitter account... but they come off like a real a-hole. They think they know everything and are Charlottes gift to sports-culture. At least that’s how they come off. Pretty opinionated and if you disagree with them, they never try and see your side, you’re basically just an idiot...

I saw that on Twitter too “can put my big boy pants on” blah blah... it’s one thing to watch it and respect it and appreciate the moment in time and the historical significance. But no way in hell, am I celebrating it. I was at the Broncos game (I live in Denver) when Peyton Manning broke the all-time passing record ...they boo’s him off the field later in the game Lol I still took my pictures and appreciated the moment...

A lot of the PSL owners in silver sections are snobby sit and clap politely fans

the stadium doesn’t encourage rowdiness...the yellow coats will chase you down if you get too rowdy, or smoke, or drink, or stand up

”Sir, please refrain from any fun...Sir”

Or smoke?! Fvck that! No way would I be down with someone smoking cigs by me during the game. Hell no.

This dawned on me tonight when I saw the @BringBackTheBuz Hornets Twitter account go on and on about how awesome Drew Brees is and how all Panthers fans should celebrate him and his accomplishment.

They are the same idiots that thought nostalgia in the Hornets name would bring quality NBA back to Charlotte. It's nice to see the Purple and Teal back on the court but it doesn't mean poo other than more merchandise $$$ for Jordan. Personally, I unfollowed them years ago on Twitter.

Do you guys think that the majority of folks who purchased the PSL's back in the day (and still own them) are diehard fans?

Most crazed fans are not in the income bracket to afford those tickets week in and week out....season after season.  Not to mention the time, travel constraints, work issues, etc...

As the fanbase ages, it will get better.  Kids that grew up wearing Olsen and Davis jerseys will get out of college, get jobs, and some will be able to purchase the PSL's owned by the old lady in Hickory who's late husband was in the furniture biz back in the day.
