The kickoff at the end of the game

The clock doesn’t actually start until a returner advances with the ball. If you squibbed it or did an onside kick and the guy caught it and immediately dropped to the ground or kneeled, then they would have had 1 second left for a final play. Notice how no time ever comes off the clock on a standard kickoff, even if the returner catches it and kneels in the end zone...even if there’s a 1-2 second pause between the catch and the kneel.

I went to the game and it was much closer than it should have been to a score. I dvr'd the game and upon review noticed that they cut away from the game. The Giants were probably a couple of laterals way from a TD.

Seems an entirely unnecessary risk to take. Just squib the dang thing and defend the hail mary if needed or at least sky the thing so it lands around the 20, but absolutely don't make it returnable.
