How important is this aspect of how our defense works? My expectations are likely too high....Thoughts?

I have really been looking forward, to the next few weeks, the return of Thomas Davis. I am really hoping Davis comes in and is able to light a fire under this defense.

I know I've been really disappointed with Shaq's four game audition to replace TD. So much so that I'm almost hoping we yank his 5th year option to free up that nearly $10M to chase a pass rushers in free agency.

It's a dream but dlaw would be nice. This team really can't wait for a young guy to produce from the edge even if he is a 1st rounder.

Redskins are going to be tough matchup. Everything tonight was setup to be the Saints night, but I have watched several Skins games and this was an anamoly.

We can win, but it ain't going to be this easy.

And regardless of what some posters think we should be doing (i.e. blowing teams out), we just need wins this time of the year and to stay healthy.

It's a long season... nobody is writing the Packers or the Patriots off this early, and they certainly haven't looked like world beaters or even as good as us.

Every NFL team is a tough match up unless they are poorly coached.

Of course Mayo has been worse. He's been terrible. Shaq has simply been underwhelming. He hasn't played up to his status as a former 1st round pick and certainly doesn't look to be a worthy successor to TD. In short, he pretty much looks like a JAG. You don't pay a JAG LB nearly $10M. Put that money toward a free agent pass rusher. Then look to add another one early in the draft.

Luke has also looked well... Underwhelming. I think we need to see what happens when 3 actual LB's are on the field.
