So, how exactly did he do so much worse than, oh, I don't know, the other defensive players? Smith (Giants) had three catches, Hixon four, Boss five and Toomer two. Sounds like they were allowing a lot of completions for a running team. Not to mention many of those catches were pivotal.

No, it's primarily about Peppers and Gross, with Lucas as an afterthought.

I never said that he was a spectacular player, just that he isn't the only one who has made mistakes. My examples were from the latest game simply because it is the one that I remember most (as it is the most recent).

I wouldn't trade them, but it's obvious Lucas is on the down with his career. Gamble looked ordinary after becoming a top 5 paid CB in the league also. May be time for Marshall to step up and let Lucas go.

Better pass rush (especially on the interior) would have made our DBs look a whole lot better.

Trading away part of your pass rush for a better corner is a "Gift of the Magi" type swap. You gain pretty much nothing.
