Through 1/4 of the season what do we think we know about this team?

To all of you wanting the younger guys to get more time. Remember Donte, Ian, and Obada all made mistakes that cost us points in the game. Don't forget that younger guys make mistakes.

Fair, but Torrey Smith also makes mistakes without offering the positives that the receivers behind him do.

With all the negatives we have, we are 3-1. Alot of these are easy fixes.

Positives 1) O-line has been excellent. 2)Donte has been on point, except towards the end of the game letting shephard catch that long pass. 3) McCaffrey has been looking great. Runs great out of the shotgun but not so good with Cam under center. But all that is credit to the Oline opening holes. 4) DJ Moore hasnt had too many touches but has made alot happen when he does. 5) Obada. I believe he was the only dlineman who touched Eli yesterday. Kid has promise. 6) Cam has been alot better this year other than 1 half of the giants game. 7) Funchess has played his height and played like the player he should be. 8) Bradberry, Although he has given up some yards, he is right there for the tackle and not giving up rac. Big stop on Odell in the end zone. 9) Ian has caught some good passes. (Yes that was a catch) He has promise and only will get better.

Negatives: 1) Defense has been hit or miss. Alot of gaps in zone coverage. Slant routes have eating us up this year. 2) Pass rush has been not effective. With KK, Poe, Addison and Pep you would think that every offense would fear that but they havent been playing up to par. 3) Uncharacteristically Luke. I havent noticed him in 2 games.

Saying all this we are getting Thomas back and Olsen back very soon. I think they add that extra that is missing, I think Luke is missing Thomas and that reliability Thomas gives that Luke can fly around like he wants. Olsen back I think that frees up the passing game alot. I think the defense will get back to its form with Thomas back. Shaq has played great in Thomas absense, but I think Luke for some reason feels more comfortable with Thomas and will look more like the Luke we know.

when we play Qb's that have started a super bowl we struggle. 1-1, every other QB we are good against (2-0). So how many more of those do we have to face?

SB QB's left

Flacco, Roethlisberger, Wilson, Brees, Ryan

Non SB QB's left

Smith, Wentz, Stafford, Winston, Mayfield.

Hope the Defense can turn the corner and start playing better. Because that looks like a 9-7 or 8-8 season.

Well, by your logic, we have 6 games left against Super Bowl Qbs. Split those, that is 3-3. And we have 6 left against non Super Bowl Qbs. Win all of those, and that is 9-3 the rest of the way, and a 12-4 record. Where would you get 9-7 or 8-8 from that?

in all honesty,

we should beat the Bucs twice

we should beat the Seahawks in an east coast 1pm game

we should beat the Skins

we should beat the Falcons in CLT

If Bell doesnt end up coming back we should beat the 3 remaining AFC North teams

we should beat the Lions

should be VERY doable to win the games i listed, allow us to get swept by NO and lose at Philly and finish 12-4..allow 2 WTF games that we have every year and we still should finish 10-6. cant underestimate how huge it is starting 3-1

lets do the math. sorry I don't common core that poo.

3 wins as of now plus non SB QB's left (6) = 9

1 loss plus SB starting Qb's left (6) = 7

No where does that come close to 12-4.

I see what you did. We struggled vs Manning. But pulled out the win. I said if the D doesn't turn itself around we might not beat another QB that started in the SB.

If the D steps up then I can see your 11-5 or 12-4.

I did the math based on what you presented. No way do we lose all 6 of those games. You are just being pessimistic for the sake of pessimism.

Vets make mistakes as well... some vets make more mistakes than the rookies

But we did win without the D playing well at all... So if they step up it should be more like 13-3 to 15-1...

i think rivera has some of the same qualities that fox had, that we all complained about (maybe on different boards).

i don't think we're very good.

if we make it far i think it'll be because there aren't a lot of good teams.

we're 3-1, but its not great football

o'line is half decent somehow

it really seems like we have potential to be good, it really does.

if that happens rivera will probably do something stupid like tell the O to not learn any new plays again, because our plays are working, like he did with the super bowl.  good coach, but so slow to accept change

well technically my preseason prediction was 5- 11 so anything will be an improvement. This team is not good enough to go 11 + wins. Hope I'm wrong but our DB's are a real problem.
