Head Coaches don’t grow on trees

54-29 since the start of 2013, not including playoffs.  .651 W/L percentage.  This would be damn near top 10 of all-time for coaches in NFL history who have coached 100+ games.  

Some of you need to get your heads out of your asses.

He shows over and over again that he will keep any team in the game with him and allow that team to have a shot to beat him. He shows time and time again that he is not putting the best player out there when it comes to personnel.

This team is at the point to where many teams have been before and a coaching change could very well do it to tip the team over. Rivera is not improving in any one area of his weaknesses. Game management: Poor as ever, Personnel Decisions: Poor as ever forced by injuries to play better players, Style of Coaching: Poor only when on the hotseat will he change and then only  until not on the hotseat.

You can’t just ignore the fact that Rivera has had the Panthers in the playoffs four out of the past five years, something that only six coaches can claim. Rivera has coached for 7 years and the most consistent coaches over the past five years (Belichek, Tomlin, Carroll, McCarthy, Reid, and Rivera) average around one Super Bowl won in 12 to 13 years of coaching experience.

Rivera makes mistakes just like every other coach but they are magnified by our fan base because it’s our team.

I even pointed out that Pederson is already coming under fire for some of his coaching decisions this year and he just won a Super Bowl. Fans will always complain because they don’t realize how hard it is to maintain consistency while also bringing championships.

Agreed, he is the perfect example. Geoff could barely throw a damn spiral before sean got there and now he is one of the best qbs in the league that fast.  People mouthing that we cant replace somebody like Rivera are the ones that are lost. Its just the result of having him here this long and being stuck with the same  repeated process.

Yea there is no shortage of head coaches that would have top 10 all time win % if you pick and choose and leave off bad seasons. As a matter of fact when doing statistics you tend to ignore/leave out the outliers and that'd be our 15-1 season. Guhead and rerun the #'s then.

His actual win % is .580 which isn't terrible but with all time HoFers on both sides of the ball you wonder if this is the guy who can get it done and then how long is long enough to try before you try to upgrade.

People in this forum think that you can recruit off Madden rankings for a head coach.  The success rate of new coaches in the NFL is absurdly low.  I'm not saying Rivera is a great coach, but I think he has plenty left in the tank.  If we fire him, there's a really good chance we end up like the Browns... not because of how good he is, but because that's how things typically go.

Alot of people on here don't like Ron because he is more of an old school coach.  Defense and run the ball.  Say what you want about he dose not like to use rookies or he is not an innovate play designer or he does not come up with new ideas on defense but he wins.  The team never looks unprepared or simply lost on the field.  He trust his players and coaches, sometimes to a fault, but he lets them do their job.  I don't care how good or bad the offense or defense looks as long as we win.  I know a lot of others on here that do but I remember 1-15 when we threw the ball all over the place with a 29 year old rookie and lost 15 in a row.  I will take a bad looking win over a good looking loss any day of the week.

Well I ask because if you are going to discount Rivera’s success in the 15-1 season then you have to discount Gettleman as well. I find it It ironic that most individuals for Gettleman are also against Rivera when for the most part their careers are synonymous with each other.

we need a new style offensive head coach , rivera and as much as i like what norv is doing we need someone thats up to speed with the new nfl .

I didn't start the discounting I was telling you how statistics work.

That post I quoted left out meaningful stats while leaving in our only outlier. That's all. Include everything or leave out the actual outlier. His first two seasons were not statistical outliers.
