I have been an unwavering Rivera supporter pretty much...until now.  Mind you, I still don't believe he is nearly as bad as blowhards on here have said, and I think that replacing him could send us into a tailspin for a year's, but I can see where someone could tire of his conservative approach amid seemingly more dynamic and modern minds. He is a good coach though, and save for a return of Cowher, I don't see anyone who's obviously better.

My main gripe with him is that he lets sub-par play and mediocrity of certain players (usually vets) go on too long to the detriment of the team and development of younger players with much more potential and upside. As a result,  you're always letting teams hang around as opposed to burying them like you're supposed to.  That series where both Samuel and Moore played key parts in the drive's success,  I was like,  "Hell yeah,  here we go!" Then...well,  it was short-lived.  He's got to trust his offense, especially when the defense has not played to a level above being suspect.  Other than that, I see a lot of positives.

Rivera has his issues, but I don't know how  you can reasonably argue against his track record of success as the Panthers head coach.

How many franchises would (simply looking at the overall record / division titles / playoff / super bowl appearances) trade places with our history (under the Rivera era) in a flash?

Firing Rivera is half the process.  Who is the replacement?

What team has that figured out before they let the current one go? You conduct a search, interview and make a decision. Its a process,  always will be.

Rivera fired Shula and hired Norv by the next morning, didnt even think about other candidates because of "familiarity". I guy thats not interesting in changing his ways or adapting will lead you nowhere.

So i would be kind of disappointed if Tep fired him and had somebody already waiting. I hope he is thorough about the search as possible.

Fact is every new owner wants his own people, especially GM and HC. I have definitely heard as much said by people in the know. Rivera needs to have a winning season. A home loss yesterday to a bad team would not have been a good thing for him at all.

And the way he went about that game....It's not rocket science but the tards on here are....well....tards.

These fools actually think it's about winning record every other season lol. Good Tepper is going to demand excellence regardless. If you can't get the trophy and you've had your time/shot to do so, buh bye we'll bring in the next guy and if he can't either then same to ya.(Tepper's actually smart)

I can think of maybe four coaches in the NFL right now I'd take over Rivera. Bellicheat, Pederson, McVay, and Reid.  That's it.  ...And all four of those teams have QBs with world-beating arm talent.  Cam is a great overall player, but let's not kid ourselves into thinking he's out there carving up defenses.  Part of that is offensive design, but a good part of it is Cam as well.

Sean Payton is another easy one, if you wouldn't take him over Rivera then lul discredited.

Yeah, I'd throw him on the list.  Regardless, I think we can all agree Rivera is most CERTAINLY in the top 10.  We could do much, much worse.

Winners think about doing much better, it's the mentality. Def Rivera has the "we could do worse" mentality.

Tepper strikes me as a "we can always do better" kinda guy.

Regardless though, we won't be replacing him with a current HC anyway. It's going to be an up and comer or someone with long term future potential so current HCs don't even matter in the topic AFAIC.

Regardless of how Tepper "strikes you", we don't honestly have the faintest clue about how he would pick a new coach.  He was 5% owner of a team that has had three head coaches in like 50 years.  There is no proof whatsoever that he would be interested in making wholesale changes, nor have any of his actions indicated he is "the type" to do so.

Can we just remember for a minute that Rivera teams traditionally start slow? Other than 2015, we go into the second half of the season at or near .500 and have to go on a winning streak to make the playoffs. His goal is and has always been to get us playing our best football in January. Norv is looking to following the same script, ditto for Washington. I think the offense will continue to improve, we'll see more blitzes on defense, and this thread will become a monument to stupidity.

We do have the faintest clue. What he's said about himself and his own words and how he's said he would go about running a team.

He was also included in that list of people who were wanting to fire Mike Tomlin. We don't have confirmation on whether it was all of them or which ones but he hasn't come out and denied it either has he. It'd be easy to be like "na I wasn't wanting to get Tomlin fired". Has he? hmmm

Yea we do have indicators and we have the faintest clue(s).
