It definitely is scary on the surface...  but i've been thinking about it, and i'm starting to think it may be a similar situation to the WR issue, moreso than a lack of talent or ability.  Obada makes plays and consistently gets pressure when he's in the game, but just like DJ and Curtis at WR, he seems to be lacking the opportunities to get on the field.  I'd like to see the snap counts from today, because I didn't see him out there often, but when I did, he made himself known.  Even Ron's public comments about him seem to undermine what he's done and justifies Ron's decision to play him behind others with the whole, "got to make sure he's not a one-hit wonder" line.

I have a feeling, or at least it's my hope, that more Obada and TD coming back is going to help a lot...  I also hope it's more Pep getting conditioned back into game shape after missing most of camp more than it is age, as to his slow start.

I think one surprising “x factor” is being overlooked: Shula. I know he sucks, but he’s still a coach and was with us for what, 7 years? He knows cam like the back of his hand. That D looked like they knew everything we were going to do, even when we ran cam. It took all of his will to get positive yards. They planned extremely well for us. That put us in awful situations on O.

The D looked like they sold out to stop Barkley and barely did anything to stop the pass. We overprepared for the run it seemed. Also, the quick slants were killing us in man, they did it all game. Doesn’t matter how good your DL is, if dbs are too far off the ball and in man with a single high safety, the quick slants will dominate. Once we adjusted, they went over top. The trick play screwed us too.

we will be ok, still won while playing bad, but this front 7 is too talented. We will be fine.

This team doesnt have that Elite edge guy.

Addison is Good but not a guy who is really going to strike fear

Pep is still solid but is old and cant rely him to beast every down.

Horton is a avg depth guy more known for his run defense

Obada is a freak athlete but still raw and learning.

Washington is polar opposite as Wilks and wants 100% rusher from the front 4.  With this DL we have now, you need to mix a good ammount of blitzes just not overboard like Wilks.  McDermott had that good balance when he was here.  Washington just needs to learn and figure it out

not much depth. we are so high on these average guys like Horton and Poe. We paid Short game changing money. He is solid as fug but he's not clowney. He's not Linval Joseph, he's not Fletcher Cox.

Peppers is amazing but Jesus he can't do that every down. How long will Addison and peppers play anyway?

Fwiw I was at the game and their were massive holds not being called against the giants OL.  I can think of one in particular where pepp went to spin and spun the OL with him because dude had so much jersey

Absolutely... any Giants fan whining about calls in the game can suck it.  I was in the stands and saw 3 blatant holds not called, so I have no idea what the refs were watching.  Poe got held and pulled to the ground on one big pass play- in fact I don't remember a single hold called on the Giants.

That being said, I am worried about the Dline like everyone else, but they were letting the Giants Oline get away with blatant holds.

    • Canales was brought in to fix Bryce. That was how he sold himself. He failed.  the panthers need a new qb, someone to coach him, and someone to build a defensive staff.  Canales has failed at developing a new qb. His big draft project XL is trending towards bust. His entire nfl resume before the panthers was one season as offensive coordinator on a stacked Bucs team, and being on the offensive staff when a 31 year old Geno smith finally put it all together. And he didn’t even pick his offensive coordinator. Assuming evero is gone, who’s he got in that phone to call? What low lvl porn addict evangelical from the bucs is ready to be Peter principled? There is nothing in his coaching history or his current performance that indicates he’s the person to move this team forward. Every other team knew this last cycle (panthers were only interview) and nothing has happened to change that perception   all people like you have is “well you can’t do it again it’s too soon but <random interval of time> will be different.  just pull off the bandage. There’s no reason to let this guy draft “his guy” except people wanting an excuse not to fire him after 2025.
    • Both Reich and Canales were saddled with trying to build and establish a viable scoring offense around Bryce Young. The best the offense looked this season and last season was with Andy Dalton who is also terrible but still better than Bryce Young. Which should be all anyone needs to know but still somehow there are weirdos here salivating over a ceiling of maybe on a really good day the 25th best QB in the league. We've already canned one entire staff over our first overall pick. You can fire everyone again to satisfy your need for vengeance and quickly come to the realization that your next hire will absolutely unequivocally be a downgrade yes man or you can blow up this QB room and then assess. If no progress next season then you can make changes and justifiably so.
    • Surprised this is the only post with this take.  This is like the Rhule kiss of death lol.
