Modern NFL offense vs Panthers offense

I figured getting Norv would improve play calls, adjustments and design. Today was just bad, too many running plays. Samuel, Moore, Wright alone is enough to get open and the chains moving and I dont know what's going on but maybe its too many targets for Norv to handle, I'm just saying my observations

However this offense is struggling get single coverage on the deep ball. We're struggling with the deep ball. Its been this way since 2016 season

And we lost to them.

Guess what type of offense won last year SB or the year before.

Phily had 163 yards rushing in the Superbowl,..Patriots still had over 100 in the 28-3 game,..modern offenses still have a balance running the ball.

The Patriots win was the most anomalous win ever in a Superbowl, the most improbable comeback,.. and they got there with the help of some superb running on the part of Blount and others.

We dont have a passing game with a heartbeat yet-- too many drops and too many bad routes and drops in clutch situations.  So we do what we have to,...

Sure I would love for our game to get Rammed out,..who wouldnt?  The Rams havent won the Superbowl though since The Greatest Show,.. and the Patriots beat them the next year playing Old School football.

You win by doing what you have to,... not by doing what fantasy nerds want to see.

The eagles are a fast pace pass first offense, same with the patriots. Same with every top offense in the league

Theirs a reason it called old school, cause it fughing old and outdated. How many SB trophy’s does our team have again remind me? With our old school philosophy

Well you had better hope we lose out the year to get that changed,...

You better hope we change, cause this relic that we call an offense has never won us squat and will continue to do so.

Except playoffs the last 4 of 5 years, number one offense 2015 and MVP of the league,.. if anyone else was the quarterback we faced besides Peyton Manning who had 16 players on the field for him(refs) then we have a Super Bowl too,..

wow ive never heard of anyone being so mad that we are winning,..

whats missing are the pieces that made us the number 1 offense,...and the pieces that made us a top 5 defense at the same time.

theres no philosophy that says win all your games with no balance,....not a WCO, not a fast paced EP, not a Coryell, and all the hybrids,.. none.

but there are certain formulas that win more games out of balance like ours.

If we or once we find the passing balance and get our defense to stop giving up 30 every other game we will win prettier.

right now I’ll settle for winning,... not whining ha

How many SB again?

of those 4 years how many times did we have a top 5 or even top 10 offense? Once.

Yeah I’m sorry I want to see my offense improve for a change and not be stuck in the mud. This league is about passing and being fast pace the rules have been bent to aid that and our coaching staff isn’t taking advantage of it.

It all goes in cycles— defenses adjust to slow them down as always— power versus zone, big versus fast,.. it all cycles.

our defenses those years were pretty good, and I believe most had a top 10 defense in most categories.

weve seen plenty of “fast” teams not go anywhere just like slow teams,..

its not one element. Our passing in 2015 was pretty darn good and effective, 35 passing touchdowns.

Hurneys first year back it’s been piecemailed,.. but I’m sure they will improve.

i saw a lot of drops and bad run routes, Cam throwing where someone was supposed to be but wasn’t—

that causes conservative adjustment when you can’t trust your personnel.

if Sean McVae loses Brandon cooks, and Kupp, which he has,.. then he will be forced to play the under game like everyone else, slow a game down keep it close etc.

you play the best with what you have according to the flow of the game as Norv said...

well when people have stone hands then you have to run the ball,..

MO - Use the pass to set up the run

Panthers - do the opposite

MO - pass at “least” 30 times a game

Panthers - pass around 27 times a game

MO - run no huddle offense on a consistent basis

Panthers - never run no huddle

MO - snap the ball with 20 seconds on the clock

Panthers - snap the ball with 1 second on the clock

MO - help their QBs get into rythym

Panthers - hinder Cam rythym

I was with you until snapping the ball with 20sec on the clock.  I like winding down the clock, it gives time to read the D, give's our D rest and is time that their offense can't use.  We could do it from no-huddle more often however.

Look I was on the get Chip, get Sean McVae, get Chucky,.. get Mike Zimmer,..

hell ive been on the get rid of Ron train since 2014,..

but oh well.

i will say that like I said,.. Sean McVae had to go old school, losing Kupp and Cooks in the same game,.. so had to use Gurley to step it up,.. 33-31 does that sound familiar?

you have to adjust to what’s working and not working to win a football game.

we don’t have a Brandon Cooks and a Kupp and a Gurley,..

This game when Norv must have lost al hope with our receivers and decided to go Run CMC again,..

he should have used the guy with a little more ass some more,.. Jonathan Stewart Junior,..

also, I’m not sure why he didn’t have the speedsters go downfield more if only to pull a couple guys out of the box with them.

anyway,.. sure I want Ron gone— pipe dream though unless stepper fires the winningest coach in Panthers history,..

Cycles? Lol

Guess what, the cycle now is record breaking passing offenses and panthers are still light years behind the curb.

You just keep going back to 2015, what about the rest of the years? Oh that’s right our offense was mediocre so it doesn’t fit your narrative.

Theirs a reason Norv was fired from his last 3 jobs, cause of chit like today

Well I didn’t pass on trading for Flash Gordon,..

i didn’t fail to trade for Brandon Cooks,..

i didn’t pass on Mike Zimmer and Pederson and even Chip Kelly— yes I think Chip Kelly would have put Cam over the top,..

our offense was number 1 in 2015,.. not sure how that’s mediocre.

again— Norv doesn’t have Brandon Cooks, Sammy Watkins or Flash Gordon to scheme for Cam— he’s got too much Fun Fun to play serious football,..feather bones,.. hands of stone,.. and Cotcheries less attractive cousin to put on the field,..and a running back masquerading as a wide receiver,.. should have drafted Ridley,.. there I said it— it’s who I was Gleeming at when we made the pick, broke my heart.

hell our 2015 corps was LiGht years better than these scrubs,..

pass fast and it will be 3 passes punt in 40 second drives with 4 interceptions a game,..

so what can a Norv do?

check downs and Run CMC,.. that’s what,..then pray to Gano

Ha.

    • I don't really like the phrase, "moral victory". I get what's meant by it, but does that mean that if you do the opposite (play poorly but win) it's an immoral victory? 🤔
    • I blame Evero because he is overrated. Vance Joseph created the defense in Denver that he took credit for. Wilks ran the ball down his throat and Darnold had a 103.8 rtg.  Last year we were decent in yards allowed, and horrible in everything else. Only reason? We kept giving up good field position.  He's had his choice of players to bring in since his scheme is so "complicated." Maybe he should stop trying to be so fancy like running Cover 4 on 3rd and 1 earlier and focus on fundamentals like tackling. These years of Eric Washington, Phil Snow, and Evero must have gotten you confused on what a real defense looked like. Go back and watch the McDermott and Wilks years- this dude is sofT.
    • I tried to make it a point in the opening post that I don't think the offense is a finished product. I think we still need more talent at WR, better play calling, catch more consistently, elimate ridiculous penalties,  and be more consistency in scoring points. I'm just saying, they look markedly better than last year imo. They have scored 20 or more in 6 games and 30 or more in 2 games. And that's particularly notable considering they only mustered 10 points and 3 points in first 2 games of this year and they got blanked on 0 points two games in a row to wrap up last season . I'd say that's a market improvement.  I'm not crowning them and saying we have a top 10 offense or anything.  I'm comparing them to themselves in recent history.
