We had MDX before and tried it with 3 kids but the trip to Destin was a nightmare.

If you head to Destin now, you'll likely experience a weather event that will make your previous nightmare look like a walk in the park.

Hurricane Michael could rewrite the record books.

The storm, now predicted to hit the Panhandle of Florida on Wednesday as a major hurricane, could rival the worst storms on record to hit that part of the state.

"Michael is currently forecast by the National Hurricane Center to have maximum sustained winds of 125 mph near its time of landfall," said Colorado State University meteorologist Phil Klotzbach.

"If that were to verify as its landfall intensity, Michael would tie with Eloise (in 1975) and the Pensacola Hurricane of 1882 for strongest winds for a Florida Panhandle landfall on record," he added.

As of late Tuesday afternoon, Michael had winds of 120 mph, making it a Category 3 "major" hurricane. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2018/10/09/hurricane-michael-could-rival-worst-storms-record-hit-florida-panhandle/1579025002/

I love Destin.  A small piece of paradise.  My family just vacationed there last week. Hope it won’t do too much damage.

I was stationed in Fort Walton back in the day when Destin was a small town, still mostly sand and sea, as Mother Nature intended.  Told anyone that would listen, if they had any money, buy land in Destin, it is going to boom.  Sure enough, the developers have pretty much destroyed the natural beauty of Destin, but someday, maybe soon, Mother Nature will have her way and return Destin to its original state.
