CMC or Saquan

Imagine you’re a GM with the number one draft pick and both guys are going pro at the same time.  I don’t know how many GM’s out of 32 would pick CMC over Barkley if they needed an offensive weapon.  Based on their merit entering the draft who would you select?

I play both on FD and DK religiously if I can't squeeze Gurley or kamara in.   Honestly if I were building a team I'dtake barkely.   He's huge.

Barkley was certainly viewed as the superior prospect entering the league, but once you're in the league that no longer matters. It's all about performance at that point.

Still, it's far too early in their careers to be making any judgements regarding who is the better football player. If you're asking me who I'd take for the 2018 Carolina Panthers? CMC all day long. He's proving that he's a great RB in this offense. Maybe Barkley would be as a good or better, who knows? But there's no way I'd trade a guy who is currently performing at an elite lever for a guy who might be better.

2018 you could maybe argue for CMC, but if they were both on the board in the same draft and you were picking a RB, no one is taking 205 pound McCaffrey over Barkley. The size difference alone makes it a no brainer.

CMC weighed in at 202 at the combine. Probably around 210-213 now after a full season and offseason on an NFL caliber weight training/diet .

One had a horrible offensive coordinator year one while the other has a horrible offensive coordinator assistant so it's hard to determine need more input.

For today’s nfl being an all purpose back is very important. For being an all purpose back 210 pounds is much better than 232. Think guys like faulk, barber, Emmitt Smith, Thurman Thomas, even back to Payton and sanders etc etc Most all round backs were no bigger than cmc some smaller. If you check  the all time scrimmage yard leaders all around cmc size not Saquon size

well to be fair Ezekiel Elliot (Also around 230)  is on a record breaking pace to shred most rushing records if he stays healthy.  1631 in his rookie year, 983 in his second year while missing multiple games at that, and on pace for 1704 yards this season. Which would be  4318 yards for his first 3 seasons.  In comparison, Emmit Smith had 4213 through his first 3 seasons, so he's running neck and neck with the all time leading rusher already.

Yes 230 pounds is ok for a pure rusher but to be able to rush plus run patterns like a wide receiver it helps  to be lighter and more agile
