Christian McCaffrey #4 in the NFL in yards after contact

CMC is a special player who we are lucky is a Panther for at least the next four years. Great players are obsessive in fixing areas of their game where they are lacking. Kuechly wasn't satisfied with his coverage abilities early in his career so he made it a point to improve on that in the offseason. Now he is probably one of the best cover LBs the league has ever seen. I see CMC in that same mold, that obsession to reach his full potential year in and year out.

No one could have run between the tackles with last years team. There was not a sliver of daylight.  Plays were predictable and opponents  stacked the box.  Christian has become a better player + the Panthers have a better OC.

This season's version of the OL has also figured out how to run block. What's wrong with these guys? Opening holes? Protecting Cam? They're supposed to be lousy.

After 11 games last season, PFF wrote an article detailing concern about his Yards after contact, his elusiveness and broken tackles.

https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/pro-is-a-shift-in-scheme-keeping-mccaffrey-grounded

This year he has erased concern about all 3.

Here are avoided tackle leaders after week 3

He's up there too in broken tackles, but I don't have the numbers.

That Vikings offensive line must be horrible because

A) Cook missed a game and was also on a pitch count last week.

B) He’s averaging 2.7 yards per carry. Every back on that list outside of Cook is averaging 4.0 yards per carry or more.

How he has18 avoided tackles is mind boggling. Defenses must be in the backfield by the time he has the snap. I’m assuming he makes the first man miss before being wrapped up by the second guy after gaining a measley two yards.

I watched Cook and he doesn’t seem as explosive He may still be recovering from injury

Pretty much. Him adding bulk and fixing a hole in his game from last year doesn't make those assessments wrong. He's already forced half the missed tackled he forced all of last year in 3 games.

The frustrating part was that a few people assumed he couldn't add the bulk that would allow him to improve and wanted to label him a bust or a slot WR.

I guess one game makes a career nowadays. He was horrible at running between the tackles last season, make all the excuses you want but its true.

Ah Gooby, Gooby, Gooby. I have to admit. You are one consistent poster.

It is not just one game this year. He is averaging almost 6yd per carry. That is consistent production. This year.

I love how you try and use last year to downplay this years success. That just does not seem fair to me. The stat was for yards after contact. This year. Not last year.

He is also having a great year at missed tackles. This year.

Yes, everything you said was true. Last year. We, on the other hand. Are talking this year. Do keep up. lol
