So, we should try to get rid of those in the fan base who only care about the team winning games and don't care for all the political stuff? Interesting...

What has become of the huddle the last few days tells everything. People care and want to comment on the issue, and not everyone agrees. And just like the rest of America...our fellow posters will get mad...crap on you...call you names, and make a fool of themselves if you dare to not feel the same way ( and heaven forbid oppose then publicly on this forum)

Its really a shame, but to be honest our country has always been a messy place...especially for discourse.  The irony here is that we have elitist fans like the one you quoted that suggest just what i said above: " get off our fandom if you dont want to talk about issues"...or more or less gtfo if you are not the kind of fan I believe you should be. And that dude typed that bullshit with a straight face in 100% belief that his comment was spot on blanket for everyone, yet doesnt see the blatant intolerance of such a stance.

lol this is your argument?

Mathieu reportedly actually turned down more money from the Cardinals at a chance to join a better defense and team...

That's not what happened. He was offered multiple pay cuts by the Cardinals which he turned down because he thought he could get more somewhere else. The Cardinals then cut him as they said they would if he didn't accept a pay cut and he ended up taking the highest offer which was the Texans with their totally not racist owner and their totally not hillbilly, backwards, racist fanbase.

He gambled and failed because he thought he could get more on the open market, but still took the highest offer in free agency. He didn't know he was getting less by turning down the Cardinals.

great dodge there

It's not a dodge at all. I don't know what would have more effect, but I'm not an activist and don't actively think of ways to spread ideas or awareness of issues. My point is it appears that kneeling has had no effect, so wouldn't be hard to find something with more than zero effect.

I am a socially conscious African American who grew up with the 60s civil rights movement. And I am convinced that the protests which disrespect the nation's symbols, the flag and the anthem, are in direct contrast to the logic behind the success of the civil rights movement and will only further divide our society. Of course, the unlawful execution of anyone, including the black victims is a gross injustice and desperately needs to be remedied. But the trashing the flag and the anthem will do nothing to solve that problem. And the NFL is absolutely the wrong venue for these protests. The NFL led all professional sports, including baseball, in integration. It is ironic that it is being chosen as the victim in this affair, but it also demonstrates the level (or lack thereof) of as knowledge of recent American history by the protesters. Further, if Reid continues his protest with the Carolina Panthers, we will see how much harmony and unity this brings to the community, the team and the NFL.

just some examples

I am a white male and grew up in the 70/80s and can not identify with what you have been thru.

I respectfully disagree with most folks on this issue.

1. I don’t like the fact that people kneel during the anthem.

2.  No matter what I like,  people have the right to kneel and I respect their conscious decision to do so.

3.  People should not take politics to the workplace which is what players are doing.  I can’t do that T my job.

4.  My job does not make me pledge allegiance to anything other than being a good employee and getting results.  Football players, on the other hand are required to do so.  This presents a quandary in my opinion

All that said. I think Reid is a fine person and a fine player.  I’m glad he is a Carolina Panther. I don’t like the fact that he knelt during the anthem and won’t like it if he kneels in the future but I can respect it and deal with it.

If you don’t like his kneeling and find it offensive I don’t necessarily think you are a bad person or are a racist/fascist dirt bag.

I respectfully disagree with Reid’s past actions but it does not and should not prevent me from liking him as a player and respecting him as a person.

That post was me quoting a yahoo comment from the article, I should've made that more clear... to your points:

1. Agree

2. I agree, however owners also have the right to punish or fire players who don't follow their workplace rules IF they choose to do so. Ultimately they've been weighing the public response on both sides and it's extremely difficult for them.

3. Agree, see above

4. Agree, see above.

As far as Reid goes, I could not disagree with him any more and I think he's completely lost in his beliefs off the field. But I could not care any less about what he thinks or does as long as he produces on the field, which I fully expect him to. So I'm thrilled about the signing.

IDC if you give me pie or poo, honestly... I just thought it was pretty funny and petty that you gave me ghost poo with no comment... so I called you out... Thanks for glorifying it with a response...

...and then we go from that to you making reference to something about anatomy or something, lol...

Better avenues for him to express himself politically. And I say better by more effect. And by effective I mean get more people to listen than be divisive. That’s not an opinion, it’s an observation.

make up your mind
