Panthers' home-run signing of Eric Reid solidifies David Tepper's status as NFL's most interesting owner

So, we should try to get rid of those in the fan base who only care about the team winning games and don't care for all the political stuff? Interesting...

Yes. Because, in all honesty, your sports culture is a reflection of your culture.

The less we tolerate the "shut up and play *insert sport here*" types, the better we are as a society. Archaic perspectives should be outcast in lieu of progress.

You can argue the capitalism aspects of the entertainment itself until you're blue in the face. But, the more teams get on board with telling the status quo elite to buck off, the better.

As argued by Tepper himself, the players in the NFL and other sports do a lot for their communities, and the ones that don't should.

To be honest, I'd wager a whole lot more sports teams have had way more of an impact into some people's communities than a flag or a song ever have.

You don't get to escape the real world and enjoy your game for three hours a week, unfazed or protected from progress. It is time to open your eyes and see the world around you, and for you to do your part to change it.

Enjoy being at an empty stadium with a hundred people cheering the guys kneeling and then sitting on their phones while the game is being played. Should be fun!

Gotcha. Either way thanks for the information. There is obviously a concern with unlawful targeting in the African American community. There is also a strong sense of connection with what the flag and anthem represent in this country.

I think people that are likeminded in attempts to end the anthem protests are looking for more of what Kenjon Barner and more recently Torrey Smith have done and that is to get to the root of the issue in attempt to put to action a ripple effect of change not only in the hearts of people who hold bias but also to the youth in at risk communities and educate them on issues from both sides.

Tired of seeing what many, myself included, thought patriotic, held to a standard of racism because it is thought of as disagreement to a cause. I would argue one can be in disagreement of the anthem protests yet simultaneously understand the need for change on multiple levels not only in bias of law enforcement but for education and pouring into the community on all fronts.

I don't think anyone should be called a racist for saying "man, I think that dude should be standing.  I don't agree with that and don't like that.  I think he could generate awareness in a better way"  Our minority head coach feels that way.

That is very different from saying...that dude kneeling hates our country, he pooping on the troops!  How disrespectful!

Intentionally ignoring and leaving out all discussion for his reason for the kneel.   I mean, intent matters a lot.  The why matters.  If you care going to disagree I think you need to at least be able to bring in a clear understanding of his "why".

too many people are intentionally, intellectually dishonest on this subject IMO.  I don't like the knee.  I don't like the knee because it brings up other issues completely different than the topic the kneelers want discussed and awareness brought upon.  Too often those bashing the kneelers the loudest, pretend the reason they kneel isn't the reason.  They insert why they dislike the knee as the reason they kneel.

we can live in a world where we disagree on things.  We can disagree and everything be okay.  We seem to forget that in 2018.  Whatever the other side is on an issue doesn't have to be the bad side off the jump.  We need to do more listening, understanding, and figuring out what things really are.  Everything a tribalism and about winning something for the sake of winning.

There are much much much worse dudes in the NFL than those who kneel in 2017 or 2018.  Think about that before you get too upset.   I may disagree with one thing they do...but a lot of those that kneel are straight up better men and people in life than some we all have cheered for on a football field.

I feel like we just need Reid to play to his potential and help this team win.

Better avenues for him to express himself politically. And I say better by more effect. And by effective I mean get more people to listen than be divisive. That’s not an opinion, it’s an observation.

examples? What would give more effect do you think?

What effect have Kaepernick and Reid actually had on their issue by kneeling? All it did was get both sides pissed off at each other and start and endless impossible argument
