Panthers' home-run signing of Eric Reid solidifies David Tepper's status as NFL's most interesting owner

Reid is awesome.

Tepper is awesome.

I hope Reid and others kneel/raise fists during the anthem and after we score TDs every time from here on out.

Hopefully it will finally cleanse our fanbase of the trash that still lurks, and will cause us to be a destination for future big name players because we dgaf what the league, the president, or any of you backwoods hillbillies think anymore.

This is a new era in not only Panthers football, but in the hybrid socioeconomic political theater that the league has become, and we are most definitely pioneers of the most just cause.

I'm not naive enough to not see that both the league and team are still implements of capitalism.

But, how do you become a broken cog and break the machine without becoming cogs and slowly wearing away your teeth in the first place?

That is like the world’s worst advice.

you should never read it. Offers nothing.  Just a distorted fake reality where people let the bad things out they wouldn’t usually have the balls to say in the real world.   Often because they don’t even believe what they say or care.  Just about the nonsense.

Yup comment sections are generally garbage.

Lots of misguided and ignorant conservatives pollute comment sections in some weird, perverted way seeking to validate their own sexist, racist, and bigoted opinions with anyone else who shares them.

I am a socially conscious African American who grew up with the 60s civil rights movement. And I am convinced that the protests which disrespect the nation's symbols, the flag and the anthem, are in direct contrast to the logic behind the success of the civil rights movement and will only further divide our society. Of course, the unlawful execution of anyone, including the black victims is a gross injustice and desperately needs to be remedied. But the trashing the flag and the anthem will do nothing to solve that problem. And the NFL is absolutely the wrong venue for these protests. The NFL led all professional sports, including baseball, in integration. It is ironic that it is being chosen as the victim in this affair, but it also demonstrates the level (or lack thereof) of as knowledge of recent American history by the protesters. Further, if Reid continues his protest with the Carolina Panthers, we will see how much harmony and unity this brings to the community, the team and the NFL.

just some examples

This hasn’t been better stated on this board until now. Thank you for your insight.

Players go to whoever offers the most money 90% of the time. You'll notice no one is avoiding the Cowboys or Texans.

So, we should try to get rid of those in the fan base who only care about the team winning games and don't care for all the political stuff? Interesting...

Gotcha. Either way thanks for the information. There is obviously a concern with unlawful targeting in the African American community. There is also a strong sense of connection with what the flag and anthem represent in this country.

I think people that are likeminded in attempts to end the anthem protests are looking for more of what Kenjon Barner and more recently Torrey Smith have done and that is to get to the root of the issue in attempt to put to action a ripple effect of change not only in the hearts of people who hold bias but also to the youth in at risk communities and educate them on issues from both sides.

Tired of seeing what many, myself included, thought patriotic, held to a standard of racism because it is thought of as disagreement to a cause. I would argue one can be in disagreement of the anthem protests yet simultaneously understand the need for change on multiple levels not only in bias of law enforcement but for education and pouring into the community on all fronts.
