I don't think Reids intentions are going to be bad at all. He has stated he won't kneel anymore and don't want to create any controversy with the team he signs with. This was a story short while back but not sure of exact time frame the story was done on him.

I think Reid will be fine here.  Good fit.  Good player.

Only issues I expect are ones people try to create for him.

We don't know if he will kneel or not.  That was a while back when he discussed about not kneeling, but he said in this press conference he hasn't decided anything yet I believe.

They honestly should leave it in the main forum. What are they thinking: that signing Eric Reid wasn't going to start a lot of political discussion on the Huddle? I don't like this quarantine approach.

This is the down side to the huddle, I look at other sites and can see ongoing political discussions without people insulting each other or hiding from the topic.

You can only say this if white and black people were on equal footing when it comes to economic standing.  Why you act as though it were so is beyond me.  Poor white Americans often live among middle class white Americans.  So most of the time when they do come into money, they actually don't move that far away.  Yet if they were poor and came into money living among poor black people, they are getting the heck out of dodge.  This is the history of redlining.

I wish I knew the barrier of understanding that makes it so difficult for some to get this, but I just believe it comes down to folks not caring about what has been done to black Americans.  You don't care about the history, you don't care about how it is still effecting people today, you just care about número uno!  Actually if you would just say that, I'd be fine with it.  Yet don't act like white and black people are on equal footing.  That's utter nonsense.

Firstly, these "self-made" millionaires come from families who are middle and upper middle class.  With that in mind, there is no solid black middle class.  Pew lists an income of 30k puts you in the middle class.  That's complete bull.  Maybe if this was the 1950s, and 30k would have been more than awesome.  That amount in this day is truly poverty.  To put it gently, that would be living paycheck to paycheck.  Yet even though the number is bull, in actuality, 30k would be middle class if you were making that money as a single person.  Lord help you if you have kids!  I think with two kids, you would have to be making 50k-60k in order to be considered middle class.  So with that information, and the charts I've put up showing where most of black America is, black people have no middle class at all.  If you are black and you have a net worth (wealth) of 350k, that puts you solidly in the top 5% of black people.  So if millionaires and billionaires are outliers for white Americans, middle class and upper middle class folk are outliers for black Americans.  Are you now understanding the conversation that's being had?

Yet if all of this is going to be ignored, to me just say you don't care about what happened to black Americans.  You don't care about redlining.  So on and so forth.  Just say it and I would be fine with it.  Be honest with yourself and everyone here.

Why should we give a damn about low income people, they had their opportunity in school to be successful and fuged it up. Why is it white America's fault the majority of the AA community dont put in the work to be successful in school leading to poverty. Cry me a fugin river kid.

Oh there's going to be plenty of attempted controversy. David Newton posted an article this morning title "Eric Reid at odds with rookie team mate" and I guarantee that as soon as he walks out of the tunnel Sunday Fox is going to have a camera zoomed in on him.

And this is why Reid should either stay in the locker room or stand for the Anthem.  He has his platform and there are hundreds of hours in a week, thousands in a year.... the three on Sunday should be about playing football.

Like I said, be honest and say you don't care.  Yet don't tell me this is black people's fault.  America put black people in a hole.  Just say you don't care how they got there.

Meh...I think it's a needless distraction. I dont think any positive change comes from this. Only debate fodder for message boards.

I dont support racism on any side. I can only imagine the backlash if Mccaffery used "my people" in a PC. I dont think it's ok on anyside....and I think we should try to win games instead of trying to carry some social banner.

My fandom will never be in jeopardy...but this stuff makes me cringe a little.

Now I do agree with one thing.  Let’s use Olsen.  Olsen and child heart issues.

I don’t think Greg should be up at pressers each week having that be the main topic of discussion.  When Olsen talks it should be football first when in a Panther uniform it should for the most part be about doing his job.

I apply that to all players and issues.

Doesn’t mean he can’t go to town on social media and at special events he does about an issue he cares about.  That includes playing to media.  Doesn’t mean he can’t pull Panthers or even the organization into his events.   But there is a separation that applies in life about your time and when you work.

I think Reid is free to do whatever and as much of whatever he wants with his time.  And be as loud as he wants.   Same with Greg or whoever.

Everyone has their battles and it’s easy to find blame in the simplicity of the world’s hate instead of finding the willpower to dig up strength within oneself and prosper regardless.

I would bet on him either staying in the locker room or even standing for the anthem while raising his fist or something along those lines. I think the point has been made with the kneeling and honestly, after listening to the presser, I'd rather he stand and speak more about these issues rather than kneeling silently. The kid has a political future if he wants it, he's a great public speaker and has clearly been very thoughtful in his approach to all this. Even speaking from the cuff yesterday, there was no hesitation, he knew what he wanted to say and felt comfortable saying it.

Oh and he's a great football player too.

Let me take this moment to say, no one got anywhere by their own strength.  I'm not looking at white Americans who have a median net worth of 100k+ and saying they got there on their own.  I'm not even looking at guys like Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos, saying they did that.  Nope.  No one did nothing.  It was all government.  When Eric Reid talked about the GI Bill, yes, policies just like that created the middle class!  We need to go back to policies like that!

Now, the thing is, in this day and age, everyone is losing wealth.  After a while you won't be able to afford a quality life.  Yet what does that mean for the people who had nothing to begin with?  Who were locked out of the GI Bill and New Deal policies?  If this life is determined by who your grandparents were, i.e. your inheritance, where will that leave black Americans descendants of slaves?  Again I want to reiterate no group has every gotten anywhere on their own strength.  Every one took advantage of whatever government policy they could.  Only black people were locked out when the government was making it rain on folks.  I always like to post this clip when people talk bootstrap talk.....
