Eric Reid contract details

That's a real bargain, was expecting ...more. Wonder if the Falcons talked to his agent and he didn't want to go Atlanta. May be he just thinks he's got a much better chance of getting a long term deal in Carolina. Atlanta is down two starting safeties, but one just got paid and the other is about to.

Also remember that Reid has been out of football since January, he isn’t going to be in game shape in 2 weeks. We may not even begin to see him near 100% till week 8-9. He player no preseason, no training camp. No OTA’s.

Dont expect pro bowl safety play next weekend.

I would hope that if he was hoping to continue his playing career. He would have kept himself in good shape. That would not set a great tone to come in out of shape. Hellz, they probably would not have signed him if he was out of shape.

Also, he will be getting a poo ton of help the next two weeks. Anybody, and everybody will be at his disposal. He may not be at mid-season form. But I really would expect him to be pretty much ready to go next game.

Between practices, and off site help, he should catch on rather quickly. Who actually knows how long it will actually take him, but I really would not count this young man out. If he has the "Want to" we will make sure he can.

"Per a league source, the #49ers also offered Eric Reid a one-year deal this week. (As they did in the offseason)," Barrows tweeted. "Can only assume that Reid found Carolina's offer better because he could start there whereas he'd be behind Tartt in SF once Tartt gets healthy."

Not sure if this is in the main thread, saw a tweet about it earlier.

But in the vein of "are we really that smart" the tweet congratulated the FO for timing the signing  or Reid to coincide with the Kavanaugh hearings.  The political world basically missed the announcement.

Planned or not, this was clearly evident in my twitter feed fwiw.

Been saying it all along how cheap he would be. Reid understands the severity of what happened & the whole being black balled. He also knows the Panthers defense needs him & he can excel in this defense & get paid either from us or someone else next year after this Lombardi trophy we about to hoist lol

Lol if we hoist a Lombardi it’s going to be rough after that. A lot of old Cats will likely ride off into the sunset, not literally like Jared Allen.

R Kalil, Thomas Davis, Mike Adams, JPep, Poe, hell Greg Olsen might even call it a career at that point. Not to mention two or three of our AARP OL might call it a day too. We have a number of 30+ year olds who would probably see that as a great stepping off point.

Funchess entering Free Agency probably wouldn’t help either.
