Falcons lost both their starting safeties. Buccaneers lost their safety to another dimension. Saints need secondary help. But Panthers signed Eric Reid.

He said on twitter that wasn't true.  He said the reporter twisted his words.

Maybe. He could also be backtracking though. That's the kind of thing that would scare teams off.

Either way, he's suffered his fair share. It's something to keep in the back of your mind.

My hope is that between him and Searcy, we might get thru the season with at least one of them available for every game.

Yeah, that was when the discussion occurred.

To be real though, how many times have we seen athletes or other celebrities say something, see how it looks in the media and then accuse a reporter of misrepresenting what they said?

Searcy's out for the season.

Did you mean Adams?

Eric Reid has had two concussions and the last was in 2014 can we drop that poo and stop pretending that's why people don't want him on the team?

It was three as of 2015, and that was over the course of just two seasons.

Whether he's had more beyond that, don't know. Not that I've seen, but I think he has had other injury issues.

Here are Reid's words from the original article that said he considered retirement that he disputes.

“Everybody evaluates their own situation as far as playing this game,” Reid said to The Chronicle. “I’ve evaluated mine and I’ve decided I still want to play.”

“There is a doctor that I’m looking further into and I may end up going to see,” Reid said. “Like I said, right now I’ve evaluated my situation and I feel comfortable playing.”

“I just decided it wasn’t worth possibly getting another concussion for a game that wouldn’t advance us,” Reid said. “So I decided to sit that one out.”

“I’m not putting a number to it,” he said. “I will continue to evaluate my own situation. If I have another concussion and I don’t feel like I can play anymore, then I won’t. If I (have another concussion), and if I feel that I still can play, then I will. It’s just a case-by-case basis.

He, per his own words, evaluated his situation with regards to concussions and that he felt comfortable still playing. So if he had to make an evaluation on whether he should keep playing then not playing was the only other possible outcome he could have reached meaning it was at least an option at one point. Seems like it's more semantics that Reid was arguing and Reid was saying that he never actually got the point where he was close to retirement. But at the very least the possibility has crossed his mind and he is aware of it.

No, based on what I read, Searcy can come back after 8 weeks.

Searcy will be eligible to return after eight weeks, but the Panthers have two starters on Injured Reserve in left tackle Matt Kaliland right tackle Daryl Williams. And they can only bring two back.

I was thinking that they would bring back Searcy, and one other.

I don't think Searcy is coming back. Searcy's concussion issues look to be way more serious than Reid's at this point.
