I was against signing Reid...

The fact that most of us were dying to get Tre Boston here should speak wonders. That we just need that level of play to be where we need to be. Reid is better than that.

Ugh... don't remind me... wanting Tre Boston back made me feel like I was yearning for an old hook up that had roaches

it's low risk high reward signing, he has shown he can play at a high level, we have jones and a rookie and our own searcy who can't shake concussion problems, i'm stoked about this signing, especially getting it done with a bye week ahead, also being able to get him into football shape will be the next step, if he's able to perform moderately, we'll be superbowl contenders

We probably need to give Marty a bit of praise, too. The guy is patching together this team better than anyone expected him to do. The guy apparently learned a lot during his absence and Tepper's certainly letting him work with fewer restrictions that JR did.

Settle in, this is going to be a long season, the longest possible I'm betting.

I didn't care one way or the other, but I'm surprised given three things:

1) First and foremost, the lawsuit; very few people believed we could or would sign a player who's actively suing the NFL

2) The concussion history

3) The fact that Bill Voth made mention of the concussion history on Twitter

Honestly, Voth having brought up his injury history was a bigger deal to me than the history itself. The Panthers are normally very controlling about what gets let out, and having that mentioned seemed like a subtle way of explaining to the media why the Panthers weren't going to sign him.

Makes me wonder now if the Panthers relationship to the media is going to change under David Tepper.

Jones is the second best safety on the team. He's just a blame game. Easy pickings. Pick on the 4.3 Texas Christian School guy who knocked Johnny Manziel out of the NFL.

Its not like we have a Earl Thomas, Haha Clinton Dix or 21DaHumble or Derwin James or Weddle or Eric Berry or Joyner. We now have a slightly younger harder hitting Mike Adams. who got CTE from Tolbert bowling him over

I am one that's not a huge supporter of the anthem protest just because I think there are better avenues, but I've wanted Eric Reid on our team more than a fat kid wants a blank check at Krispy Kreme.  He's a hell of a player and will make our team VERY dangerous.  Also, his 1 year contract is not guaranteed since we've passed that mark in the year, so literally if he gets hurt, it doesn't hurt us financially whatso ever.  Big dick Tepper just placed his brass balls on the NFL shield and asked all the owners if they have any questions.

If Tepper called Goodell and asked for permission then it’s collusion. Of course we’ll probably never know if he did or not

There’s what happened, then there is what you can prove ha.

i really don’t care how it happened behind closed doors if it helps us hold teams to 21 points or less instead or letting them air raid us all day long,..

I have also heard he has injury concerns and I've also heard he is more of a SS than a FS. But like other posters have shown, he can't be worse than Jones. But will he be worse than Tre Boston is the question I'm actually interested in.

Dude, Reid is light years better than Boston. He is a top 15 safety in this league, and he may only get better.

Damn all the fake news being spread around this place about his performance and ability! The real question with him has always been the concussions. If he can stay on the field, he will raise the level of our secondary.

I am just glad the team was proactive in addressing a position of concern other than just saying "the answer is on the roster".   If the guy can play (and he can) and he isnt a locker room cancer ( I doubt we would bring him in if they thought he was), then improve the team by signing him - and we did, thankfully.   I sure hope he is fired up about the other teams NOT signing him and takes it out on everyone we play moving forward.

I also have to wonder if maybe the loss of Ricardo Allen in ATL prompted them to get moving on signing him - I have to think Reid was on ATL's radar and we didnt have any good options after him on the market.
