Uhhh, you don't take raw ideas to the owner of your company.  You take plans.  You don't waste Tepper's time with an idea and then look like an idiot when you can't come to terms with Reid.  You cut the terms with Reid, then get the final ok with Tepper.  Haven't you guys dealt with big wig's?  Sheesh.

At a normal job perhaps.  If you are considering a new accounting system or something else boring but important perhaps.   But if you are considering something that might be controversial in a high profile arena such as the NFL, you give the boss a heads up before he gets blindsided with a Social Media story that his team is pursuing a particular player.  If the panthers sign some unknown guy to the practice squad, Tepper may not even get notified.  But my guess is this was discussed with Tepper in the early stages, and he gave tacit approval.

Yes. You would never do that. You dont agree to terms without knowing you can back them up. That's absurd. There was no possible way they didnt get his blessing before talking to Reid. Zero %.

This is a new owner and this is a major story.

Not all owners of a company will reject raw ideas because that idea just may be what the owner was looking for and make plans from then on. For one Tepper does not look like the type owner that tells you that you are wasting his time because he is not Richardson and does not do Richardson things. A likely scenario is Tepper may have initiated the move and had RR and Hurney working together on it in his office. Once the deal was sealed the news broke that we signed him to a one year deal.

This was't normal business. This was a controversial move that required full support of a new owner.

Hurndog called Reids' agent Tues.. Reid, and his agent, came to Charlotte Wed.. Once the deal was ready, then they took it to Tepper. @ladypanther already posted all this earlier in the thread.

So technically, yes Teper was brought in on the decision. With a signing of this magnitude, of course he was going to be informed.

I don't believe they didn't discuss this issue in the past. That may have been the order that he final official business occurred. This topic had to come up in their talks previous. They had to have knowledge that he was down for such moves.

I also believe Rivera has wanted to do this for a while. They hinted at their interest going back a while.

People are trying to use this topic to either discredit Rivera and Hurney or downplay Tepper's influence. I believe the staff and GM wanted this and it took Teppers saying go for it, I have your back.

Their were written or unwritten or implied rules about things with Richardson and we have all accepted them. With Tepper and the staff their had to be a discussion about what if anything was going to on or off limits and important to him.

A move like this was a win win situation for both sides. More free agents in the future will now consider coming to Carolina. As oppose to in the past not wanting come because of JR. I like the new direction the franchise is heading to now. Which is winning. Winning=more money.

When has a player not wanted to come here because of JR? Plenty of players have wanting to come here and have though the years.
