Carolina Panthers sign Eric Reid to a one year deal

Has been years since I have posted. Posting because I broke out in uncontrollable laughter at the 1:23 mark of this video. There is just something about seeing Jimmy Graham leveled that makes my heart whole.

What's likely is that neither Hurney nor Rivera would have had the nerve to even suggest signing Reid. 

I think you can make the assumption that they did suggest the signing. Your scenario doesn't sound likely at all..

Except that Tepper already came out in support of the kneeling players and made it clear he wants to win. So political agenda would have no sway. Hurney said it was a football decision. And I am sure Tepper was fine with it. I just don't know if he lobbied for it or had a hand in forcing the decision as some here suggested which started the whole debate.

Whew ... thought for sure that Boston was coming back via trade. 

 

If Reid can stay on the field and perform close to his previous level ... it's an upgrade.  Don't care too much about political / personal views ... just ball-out and make the team better.

Just watched some of his highlights on youtube. This dude is only 26 years old. He is still in his prime, he plays physical, something we lack in the secondary. Im liking this signing the more videos I watch of him. His LSU highlights are sick!

I am cool with this. Smith was just putting a feeler out there for the organization. Backlash was minimum. This is our window and I think that we will all be happy with the direction in 4 weeks.

Doesn’t matter. Had Hurney and Ron tried this under JR he would have meddled and never allowed it. You already know this.

Tepper may have not had a say but that, as well, is different than JR and is why this has happened.

And a good thing it is that JR is gone. My point was that this wasn't a Tepper decision, it was Hurney and Rivera making the choice as a football decision. Tepper gets credit for letting the football folks make the best decision for the team and not caring about the politics or what other owners may think  I just doubt that Tepper influenced the decision or forced Hurney to pick him which is what some of the Hurney and Rivera critics suggested.

    @ladypanther posted a snippet from the Observer that has the timeline.

 

    Mon. Ron, and Hurndog, got together to talk about the S position. They decided that Reid was the best answer. Tue. Hurndog called Reids' agent. Wed. Reid came to town. And Tepper was asked his thoughts. 

 

    So kudos to Ron, and Marty, for having the nerve to get the ball rollin, and Tepper for being on board.
