More Moore

The point that players sometimes take time to work in and develop is a fair one.  By the same token, it's also fair to wonder why it seems that Panthers rookies are always the ones that fall in that category of "give them time".

For example, why is it that Ridley is lighting it up but DJ Moore is not?

We hear a lot about how the Panthers wanted DJ Moore to learn all the receiver positions . . . yet no one really asks if that's the best choice for a rookie.  Why not give him a limited package that he can learn to execute well and as he masters that, give him a little more.  This applies to more than just DJ.

It seems especially obvious on the offensive side of the ball for us.  DJ Moore, Taylor Moton, Daryl Williams, etc.  It seems like we do a very poor job of integrating offensive rookies into our system.  Now, some of that must certainly fall back on the coordinator, and I feel certain we all can agree that the situation at offensive coordinator was a mess prior to this year.

Cmac is really the only offensive rookie we've seen get extensive opportunities in his first year since Kelvin and Trai in 2014.  It therefore remains fair to ask why we don't do a better job of working our offensive rookies into the system more quickly instead of waiting for some sort of disaster to push them into the spotlight.

Even with the high amount of reps we threw at CMC from the word go he still eventually went through some growing pains. He has elevated his game for 2018 with a season under his belt to learn and build from. Inevitably this will happen to most rookies in some way.

Funchess is heading into his fifth year option and he's the very definition of inconsistent and fans are still defending him so I just don't understand why so many people are eager to be down on Moore this early. I chalk it up to draft fuggery. Fans get too enamored with one prospect and then hold a grudge if their team drafts someone else over that prospect. It's incredibly feeble minded but it's what I'm seeing. Even if it's a player that suits up for a division rival. This sort of nonsense is why our stadium has been taken over for so long and why our fanbase has been considered a running joke for years.

If I was a foot taller, 80 pounds heavier and could throw I’d be Cam Newton.

The point is, that the rating is based on how the player has looked given their opportunities. Moore cannot throw the ball to himself, but when it has been thrown his way, the numbers are very similar.

No, the point is any rating system based on an average production rather than actual production is ridiculous. PFFs system is actually based on how many times a player wins a particular matchup if you read their bumpf. In this case it’s evidently flawed.

I agree that it is flawed, no argument there. My point was that if you look at opportunities, and how many times each has won in those opportunities, then they should be about even. It is not about totals, it is about % of wins, and in that regard, % of wins in given targets, it is even.

Everybody freaked out last year on CMC vs Kamara. Look at this year. Some things may take a little more time. He will get his chance. I think Samuel returning is more important then Moore getting forced into the line up.

In theory, Moore could be there to eventually take over for Funchess next year as the main guy with Samuel #2 and Wright #3. We didn't rush Shaq. We didn't rush CMC. Why do that to Moore?

isnt Kamara having trouble running the ball?

Yeah that's what I get for typing something up fast. The gist of the point either way was that we have to decide what the investment in the form of an extension to retain him will cost and whether he will be worth that. How he finishes the season will obviously make a huge difference. But he has to be more consistent.

3 games into his NFL career. Three.

I get that but he's not even running routes. I'm not giving up on the kid but to say he's better or even a tenth of what Ridley is right now would be a lie. Like Ridley could be helping us now not week 13.
