Rishard Matthews asks for his release

With some churn at the position, I think our WRs are still figuring out Norv's offense. They're starting to gel and by week 5 we should be seeing a lot more synergy between them and Cam*.

I don't really see the need to add another name to the list. Especially one who is weeks behind everyone else and has to pick it all up. I'm going to ignore him 'giving up on his team' as I don't know the specifics.

*With the exception of Torrey Smith, who looks completely lost at times.

You sign a contract (extension) and bitch three game in that you aren't getting enough touches?  Maybe he isn't getting open, maybe he is a one hit wonder.  Maybe the extension went to his head and he isn't working as hard as he did before.

Everyone was happy when we signed Smith.  Many thought he was the answer to our deep threat issues.  He's not or hasn't been to this point.

OP seems to believe this guy is the answer.  If he's released I would bring him in and kick the tires some but I wouldn't trade for him no matter what they would want for him. We'd do better holding onto our picks.

We go through this crap every time a player is cut, released, wants a trade, demands a trade, threatens to retire...blah blah blah.

Sometimes I wonder if half of this forum are old ladies that hang out at the thrift store looking for a bargain.....

Get with the program! There are more than a few old men in the thrift store looking for bargains. Women are likely wiser than men. Nothing wrong with a bargain. Matthews has already proved to be more than a one-hit wonder, and he hasn't mysteriously forgotten how to get open. So, yeah, if he comes cheap, at this point in their respective careers he would be an upgrade to Torrey, Wright, and injury-prone Byrd to be honest.

No worries though. Rivera doesn't seem to care for bargains, he's not really that forward thinking.

Just like it would be with our situation. They have young guys they invested in.

That's a huge dropoff. You can invest in the young stud without immediately sending the old horses to the glue factory. They should have cut the man in August so he could hitch up somewhere else.
