Lol being realistic about someone that worked their ass off heading towards what is a certainty is “rooting for a cap hit against the team” whilst also hoping they take the team friendly deal in the same post. Wow. I can say I’ve got a head nod from Cam when yelling “KILLER CAMM” at him in Buckhead after embarrassingly going full fanboy so I got that bias going for me.

Dudes made more money than anyone on here will make in 10 lifetimes lmfao pardon me for not giving a sh*t if he gets a raise to his 20 million dollar salary.

Cam has 856 career carries, not to mention the abuse he's taken in the pocket because in years past the refs let him get blasted.

Those cumulative hits take a toll and the past two years his dings have begun to collect Shoulder/Ankle/Ribs ect. I hope I'm wrong but I think hes going to end up with a running back career arc unless he dramatically alters his style of play.

I realize it is standard procedure to highlight the number of hits Cam has taken, as well as those injuries, to foretell his imminent demise. But what the folks who subscribe to this theory don't understand, is the fact that Cam loves it. Maybe not those cheap shots, but he loves being a football player. He loves being the bully.

Until he decides it is time for him to "Take a step back". He will continue to be who he is.

And those 3 injuries all occurred within a short period of time. Cam is a tank. And he has proven by how few games he has missed throughout his career.

I have never clowned Cam. Now Jake yes.  But to expand on my reasoning. Cam will probably go to Atlanta. Hometown home team. It won't be anything personal.  But I can see it happening and would wish him well. Excluding against us.

So atl. is just going to dump Ryan when they sign Cam? C'mon man. Cam will not be going to atl., as long as Ryan is still there.

IMO, the ONLY way Cam does not retire a Panther? Is if he decides to "Manning" it, by spending his last couple of years in atl. chasing a ring for the home town team.

It is worth noting that we have an owner whose habit is to set a value on something and absolutely not budge from it. Who's to say he doesn't apply that same standard to player contracts? That'd fit the "Steeler Way" that he talks about applying here.

I know people would absolutely fly off the handle if Tepper were to play chicken with Newton (the honeymoon would definitely be over then) but we might have to acknowledge it's a real possibility.

If, for example, the Panthers use a high pick on a QB next year, that'd raise some eyebrows.

Tepper is also a business man and hard balling the face of his franchise out of town would be a terrible business decision.

He will be the new highest paid QB until the next one signs. Make the majority of it guaranteed base salary so you can keep kicking it down the road until he retires. When that happens, eat all the dead money in a rebuild year that is likely anyhow. Saint that thing up.

That's fan reasoning, not business owner reasoning.

Playing hardball is how he got the team in the first place. If he was willing to walk away from purchasing the team at all rather than go above what he believed to be the maximum value, I'm not sure what makes people think he'll cave on a player contract, even to Newton (ditto Kuechly).

That said, it's not a given that Can (or Like, for that matter) tries to max out his contract. He signed a team friendly deal before. While I grant he's less likely to do so on what could be his last contract, that's not impossible either.

Barring the unforeseen though, however it happens, Tepper is going to be here beyond Newton, beyond Kuechly and beyond pretty much every other favorite player we have right now. The team isn't shutting it's doors once our current roster is done.
